I heard that someone claimed they did a translation during the Beta.
So that sounds rather easy, I guess?

I'm in the beta test and whilst I can't divulge any specifics - I can happily confirm the scale and readability is perfect at 3440x1440 for me.crismac_slith wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 1:39 am Hi, I tried to do a search on this, in this thread and came up empty, so is 3440x1440 ultrawide compatible with DW2, and is anyone testing the game on that resolution? Maybe?
I've been told that it will.
Pretty sure we have the names in a moddable list for DW2.Pocus wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 5:13 pm I'm speaking of names lists before you start the game. I'm not too fond of the naming convention of Distant Worlds, it reminds me of the name generator used by Stardock in Fallen Enchantress, with names like Ooodilopilopip and such like. I prefer Greek names, Anglo-Saxon names, mythology names, etc. Hopefully this time asteroids and moons names lists will be accessible.
Integrated graphics are usually suitable only for lighter games and office productivity. I would expect that would be below our minimum spec and not suitable for a 3D DirectX 11 game like DW2. The minimum requirement for a dedicated graphics card is not especially high though. The vast majority of gaming systems from the past 5 years should be able to run it. I've been running it fine from time to time on a 7 year old system to test things out, but they all have dedicated graphics cards.fnix wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 6:14 pm A search didn't turn up anything and although I've seen the official system requirements, I'd like to know if the game will be (more-or-less) playable on an integrated Intel chipset – much the same as Stellaris, as judging superficially by the available gameplay videos on YouTube, the two games don't differ greatly in graphical fidelity.
The price in US Dollars is the same everywhere. The rest comes down to "regional pricing" on other stores, which we don't control. We can only set the main price. Our store uses regularly updated currency conversions to calculate the price in other currencies so that it's the same in equivalent US dollars. Steam and others often use a lower converted price in other regions as part of their pricing strategy.Tank Commander_MatrixForum wrote: ↑Sun Feb 20, 2022 3:32 am Pricing - Whilst I'd like to buy via the Matrix/Slitherine store to support them if evenyly priced, DW2 is being sold £5 gbp cheaper on Steam both with the 10% pre purchase discount.
Why arent they same priced?
No plans for that, but I expect Mac users will have ways of playing it anyway, just not natively in MacOS.
Should be quite possible to mod, all the text is externalized.
We've had testers testing resolutions up to that, so I expect so. I don't have that here myself, but I've tried it in 4k successfully. I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work with any resolution really in the new engine, as long as your card and monitor support it and your card has the power to run it at that resolution.crismac_slith wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 1:39 am Hi, I tried to do a search on this, in this thread and came up empty, so is 3440x1440 ultrawide compatible with DW2, and is anyone testing the game on that resolution? I think we'll be making the release build available for streaming next week. At a minimum, I know I'll be live streaming it on our Twitch channel next Wednesday, March 9th.DMan777 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 5:01 pm My apologies if this has been answered previously, but will the previewers be receiving early access to the release build? More specifically, when might we see more content from our favorite streamers? Seriously jonesing for more videos to carry me to the 10th.![]()
Good to know. Thanks for the information.Erik Rutins wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 12:44 am I haven't looked at the video yet, but yes - if you design your ships with stand-off weapons and fighters and set the ship and fleet tactical settings to be cautious, they will try to stay at long range. I'll give that video a look tomorrow.
