Better than 300 Spartans

Post by Cavalry Corp »

300 Spartans would be afraid of these... My best Divs Nov 15th 42 PBEM.

Note I changed my policy a bit and decided Multi role units like Brigades and Regts are better attached esp. if motorised. Those damn PZ1 still hanging around I do not like the upgrades system in this game at all ...and no way of getting the trucks to GD or 5SS as I would like!
Note both Divs still awaiting upgrades as well. I try on map, TB and NR, the chance seems 100% random to me. the upgrade to PZG seems to be worse in my imagination all the SS are overdue.

An amateur, this is who you are, if you were interested in the history of the real "300" Spartans, you would find out that there were far from 300 of them and that they were far from being Spartans. And that 300 Spartans in the movies have nothing to do with what you show.

I might as well show you a screenshot of the bread and tell you a great story about how I walked outside listening to music a couple of days ago.

It saddens and angers me that you use the term 300 Spartans with absolutely no information about the battle of 300 Spartans.

And then you show experienced German divisions of bastards who burned people alive, pursuing a policy of genocide on the territory of the USSR.

We are not at a party, but a man is clearly glorifying the German SS divisions, drawing a shitty parallel between the battle of antiquity, which is in the minds of people (Not how it really was, but like what people in fantasies through films seem to think that it was) as an example of valor and heroism . Equating the actions of the Nazi bastards who killed seven, raped women and children, sold women for two bottles of vodka, destroying people on a whim, like heroes.

The topic does not carry any essence of the issue, does not raise any issue or problematic topic. The topic is flood and I am ready to support this flood, pointing out that you are snickering gentlemen, you are putting 300 Sapartans and German divisions on a par, especially SS divisions. Forget those atrocities that people did within these divisions.

Not sure if this is a place to debate the topic of ancient Greece in depth.
Sure you can expect everyone using terms like "300 Spartans" with caution/further explanation if you feel like, but every normal person in the world understands the referrence he is using, a movie, influenced by historical events.
While many of the statements you give/words you use are not that straight forward.

One could similarly question your usage of the term "Nazi" without further historical elaborating its origins.
ShaggyHiK wrote: Thu Jun 01, 2023 9:20 pm German divisions of bastards
Same goes for your usage of the term "bastards", I am pretty sure many of the men back then had married parents.

...and since we are there, how about the term "Germans"?
ShaggyHiK wrote: Thu Jun 01, 2023 9:20 pm [...] burned people alive, pursuing a policy of genocide on the territory of the USSR.
And since you are talking about genocide, one could also questioning you to use this term with caution as well and elaborate on that. You may point out Holodomor as well as an USSR internal genocide killing millions.
...and overall, how did the USSR get that big in territorial scale in the first place?

Task:
A essay of at least 5000 words each for Nazi and Bastard may be appropriate. The German and the genocidal topic may require 10.000 words at least each, with the attachment of the topic of USSR of an additional 10.000 words.
Further: GD =/= SS, another 5000 words requirement.

Imagine having to face a tank while carrying a spear, shield and a sword and wearing some leather-straps. ;)

Where do I start?, well how about a light hearted post by Cavalry Corp showing how he had built his divisions in a GAME which we all play as a hobby and you come up with this response :? I see no glorification of which you state in the original post, sigh.

Wow, this all reminds of ...

I want to tell you 'bout Texas radio and the big beat
Comes out of the Virginia swamps
Cool and slow with plenty of precision
With a back beat narrow and hard to master

Some call it heavenly in its brilliance
Others, mean and rueful of the Western dream
I love the friends I have gathered together on this thin raft
We have constructed pyramids in honor of our escaping
This is the land where the Pharaoh died

The Negroes in the forest brightly feathered
They are saying, "forget the night
Live with us in forests of azure
Out here on the perimeter there are no stars
Out here we is stoned, immaculate"

Listen to this, and I'll tell you 'bout the heartache
I'll tell you 'bout the heartache and the loss of God
I'll tell you 'bout the hopeless night
The meager food for souls forgot
I'll tell you 'bout the maiden with wrought iron soul

I'll tell you this
No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn

I'll tell you 'bout Texas radio and the Big Beat
Soft, driven, slow and mad, like some new language

Now, listen to this, and I'll tell you 'bout the Texas
I'll tell you 'bout the Texas radio
I'll tell you 'bout the hopeless night
Wandering the Western dream
Tell you 'bout the maiden with wrought iron soul

Shag - Ehhhhh Ohhh where did such anger and rudeness come from... I do not even know you. Maybe your post is humorous but I do not think so. You do not disclose your nationality so we don't quite know if your anger has a national basis.

Its a light hearted post (reflecting on the film to attract attention) about building up units in game, to see how high the CV may go - I asked my opponent to post his soviet ones once he gets the idea of doing screens :) Its rather unfortunate as you have noticed these units in game tend to be the same ones as historical. And these units looked after/used at the right time will win me the game.

In the meantime....I will post all my top 10 Divisions next turn so all players can see those as well. You may close your eyes. Then I will post some Soviet ones if my friend sends them, then you can open them and all will be well. Universe re aligned - just for you.

This post made the whole thread hostile and honestly, just feels like flamebait with it's insulting tone and extreme over-reaction to making a 300 reference.

So, your going to get an official warning for it and I'm going to lock this thread. If the OP would like to remake their thread, they are more than welcome to and hopefully, we'll keep things civil next time...
