Error on Strategic Command: American Civil War

Hi,
I have bought and installed Strategic Command: American Civil War.

I have started with the first campaign playing as confederate.
But as soon as I see the window where the north issue the naval blocade I get an error and the gane crashes.

I attach the error if it helps.

Hi Gmarco,

Could you tell me what resolution your Desktop is, as well as what resolution you've selected to play the game and if it is full screen or not?

This should help me try and track this down for you.

Also could you try updating your sound and video card drivers in the meantime to see if this helps?

Hi Hubert,

thanks for your quick and kind reply.

My desktop is 1920x1080 and I was playing at 1680x1050 windowed mode.
But I can confirm it happens also in 1920 fullscreen mode.

The video card here is an Nvidia card GTX 1650 SUPER.
I'll try to update the drivers and to check if something changes, but I can confirm that I can play without problems to the others Strategic Command titles.

Do you happen to have a saved turn where this is repeatable as well?

Hi Hubert,

Thanks so much for your help.
I dont have any scenario save being the error in the first steps of the start of the Blue and gray scenario (before the first moves of the north).

But I have found the folder:

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command - American Civil War\ERROR

Where I found:

- errorlog.txt (1kb)
- ERROR_LAST_AI_STATE.sav (52kb)

The first is basically what I have reported in the picture:
Few lines of:
[2022-07-03 19:00:46 PM; 6.2.9200; 1680x1050x32(0); SC3: Civil War v1.01.00] FAILED(splash_convoy_summary_dialog: set_dialog_height):

The second I presume is a binary file of a dump of the last happenings.

I zip the 2 files and send them to support@furysoftware.com .
I hope they are usefull to understand what is happening.

Hi ,
The game is currently unplayable with the attached error .
I have gforce rtx 2070 and latest drivers
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz 3.19 GHz
16.0 GB

All the other strategic command games work great on system.

Hi Flakhawk1,

This is a very odd error as it only seems to be affecting your two installs so far, but I have made a change of what I think might be the issue.

One thing to try, and just to confirm my suspicion, could you try playing the game with the 'Research' option enabled, if disabled, to see if the issue goes away?

Apologies, will look to correct this as soon as possible, and in the meantime, if you can enable 'Research' in the OPTIONS->ADVANCED screen for now as a workaround, that will at least get you playing.

Same error here, research was off in hotseat mode
