Bwahahaha

Well if the game was substituting her image instead ob blowing up random stretches of map, when I mouse over an area, I might not be asking for assistance!

Norm, I have not seen anything like what you showed. I suspect it is an interaction with Windows, but I do not know what is causing it.

The issue only started with the new laptop. Unfortunately, it is making the game very challenging and even slower to play. I've taken it off and reinstalled it as well as trying to operate it in full screen. It sems to do a little better in full screen, but the game runs even slower. Sometimes (less often) it will pick up the desktop images and they will take over part of the screen.
I have loved AE since it came out, so this pretty frustrating.

Could you post your command line switch settings?

It looks in first pic bit like there is Windows Magnifier on or something.

BTW, you cannot embed picture in "Fast reply". You need to use dedicated "Post reply" button.

Thanks evil Dune guy. Glad to see you are still around. Belatedly I rediscovered how to reduce my foolishness. I will be searching the laptop for some magnifying ap or service next. Nice idea

Went through laptop several times and did not find a magnifier installed. Hoping I can get this resolved.

It is supposed to be part of Windows. Just a key combination to enable it. Ask Google how.

EDIT: I found it on the Windows bar - Ease of Access - Windows magnifier.

Thanks for the assistance, but still having the same issue. The Magnifier has been off. I am getting same issues.

On the image my mouse was over Ulleungdo, but it was bringing up the Yellow Sea area. It typically seems to be "magnifying" several inches to the left and up a bit, from where my curser is. It only does this with Admiral's edition. I've not had any issue with other programs or games, matrix or otherwise.

Appreciate all the help you all have offered. I am hoping we can final a resolution.

Just to double check, windows magnifier is turned on with the Windows Key and the Plus key depressed. Turn it off by hitting the windows key and escape.

Thank you.

Correct. I have tried Windows/esc multiple times and the attached screen is from Settings. It has never shown as on with magnifier in settings. Again, it has only done this since I switched to the new laptop. And only with AE.

I've spent this evening looking through the AE folder in hope to find an answer.

I ran into this same problem recently when I switched from running full screen to windowed. Adding switch -dd_sw fixed it. I had removed that switch when running full screen because it increased performance; so far this hasn't been an issue in windowed mode. I'd try adding that switch and see if that fixes the issue for you as well.

For reference, my full switch set (when running windowed):

-wd -multiaudio -px1920 -py1080 -altFont -deepColor -skipVideo -archive -dd_sw

Thanks, von moltke.

I'm game for tying. I had ridiculous lag issues running the full screen, so I've only played the windowed version, both have had this "magnification" issue.

Apologies, but where can I find add the recommended switch or find the switch set?

Here's an old thread with a list of switches and discussion on what they do.

I think Moltke is correct, and the -dd_sw switch will solve this particular problem.
