Boy did Steam or Paradox pull a fast one!!

Post by aaatoysandmore »

This morning I noted the sale I saw on Steam for EU:IV for $9.99 and the complete set for $24.99. Well, just have a gander of how much it is during the Steam Sale. It's back up the $19.99 and $49.99 just 50% off and it was 75% off this morning. Funny how corporate beans work. Wonder why they did that though?

It was like a 12 hour early bird special I guess. I didn't stop to read at that price I just bought it. [:D]

They always do that. One selection is up for a day, while it's available for two, while the other selection is only for 8 hours. Keeps people looking. Stuff does sometimes come around again.

Also, sometimes they just get the prices completely wrong and correct them later.

EU IV was 75% off as part of a 'daily sale' to mark the release of the newest expansion pack DLC.

It is now the summer sale and the series of a normal 50% off.
Paradox is a big time publisher and will get it's own day on the front page. I expect another 75% off day.

What is surprising that that during the daily deal, the El Dorado DLC was 25% off but is now 33% off.
It makes just over a dollar of difference but still surprising.

I have 20 games on my wishlist and I got one of them today. Cook Serve Delicious.

Almost all of my games are cheap indies or older games.
The big title though is Pillars of Eternity. I am hoping for 33% or even better 50% off.

I saw Pillars when I was browsing upcoming and it was reduced. Can't remember how much. Do a search and you'll probably find it onsale. There's a lot of games reduced price that aren't on the front page I'm finding. I always look at the $10 and $5 games.[:'(]

Pillars is 25% off now but I would hold out for 75% off because I think it will go that low during this sale.

They did something weird with GTAV also. I noticed it said it was 25% off but still cost $59.99 which was the normal price. Now if you click and go to the store page it said the price was $70 something and it looks like they threw in some online tokens but they basically threw that into the standard game so if you had the normal game without those tokens and looked at it the game said it was on sale when really it wasn't it was just giving some extra bonus for buying something that you probably didn't want the extra stuff anyway. Just kinda shady if you ask me. Especially because it was a game I had on my wishlist and they changed the standard version of the game just for this sale. It's almost like a clothing company raising the price on their cloths just so they could say they were on sale but sell them for the pre sale price and they threw in a pack of bubble gum or something with them.

People are freaking out about that online and shaking what little faith I have in the intelligence of people.
The base game is still $60. And you can still purchase the base game (despite people claiming you cannot)
They 'added' an in game item that gives you in game money for the online portion of the game. And this is a $20 item and you pay $60 for the base game and get the add on for 'free'
So technically it is reduced 25% for the package. But the base game is still full price. But it is the best selling PC titles of the year and came out less than two months ago.

So yeah, there is some creative marketing going on but no trickery.
If you want to play the online portion of the game then the bundle is nice since it gives you a nice boost to purchase an apartment, some weapons, clothes and vehicles.
If you don't have any interest then I would continue to wait.

But really, this is one of the few titles that is worth full price. A simply amazing game.

That is pretty much my policy as well. If it doesn't reach that level in this sale, it probably will in six months. I just don't care any more about having the "latest thing"... I'm willing to wait and pick it up later for $5 instead of $59.95 new.

Of course, with my current retirement income and expenses the days of me spending big bucks for games is over [:(]

My old Piczo site seems to be gone, so no more Navajo Nation pics :(

If you're looking for some part time easy work check out Experience Works program in your state. They are usually located at the unemployment office for the over 55 folks. It's a good program and you only work 4 hours a day and pretty much your choice of hours.

You can go online and look them up also to see where the closest place to apply is in your state. Just google them for more info if you're interested.

I'm guessing, but from what I have gathered about Rhonda over the years I highly doubt she's stopped working. Just getting paid for it.

Since I had my strokes it's been a lifesaver for me. I can barely do the 4 hours but at least it's easy. I need Matrixgames and Slitherine to give me a PR job. [:D]
