Oh say an engineering unit for exmaple 'EAB', an RAF Hurricane unit 'Trop.' or a IJA LCU 'RTA'. I know those. But there are a lot of others I just can't figure out. It's not important. I'm just really, really curious.

EAB = Engineer Aviation Battalion (construction engineers)
Trop. = Tropical

For use in North Africa the Hawker Hurricane Mk IIB (and other variants) were tropicalised. They were fitted with Vokes and Rolls Royce engine dust filters and the pilots were issued with a desert survival kit, including a bottle of water behind the cockpit

RTA = Royal Thai Army

No list that I'm aware of. [:(]

Here are the US Army and Marine LCU abbreviations that may not be self-explanatory:

Cst Art = Coastal Artillery
Def Bn = Defense Battalion
EAB = Engineer Aviation Bn

SeaBees = the popular name for Naval Construction Battalions (CBs = SeaBees). Naval Construction Regiments are x3 CBs in a single LCU.
(Sep)= Separate; usually an independent regiment, not part of a Division
(Spec)= Special. A division or regiment with a unique TO&E. Ex. 1st Cavalry (Spec) Division
Specl Svc= 1st Special Service Force, a regimental-sized commando-type unit that served briefly in the Aleutians

The M/W for the 8th RAF M/W still somewhat a mystery, eh?

Anything on the IJA units?

But hey thanks for the others. Sure helps me with the bells and whistles within the game.
I'm sure I'll find some more as time goes along.

Again thanks all.

Don't know the correct answer, but the natural assumption would be that M/W stands for Maintenance and Workshop.
