We've watched that movie every Christmas for about seventeen years. It's a classic in our home. Every time I see that kids tongue stuck on the flag pole, it looks so real. I try and find a moment where it doesn't look real, maybe a stunt shot, but never happens. [:D]

That's where I watched closely, while he is waving his arms around I thought he would let up just a little from the pole, but he never does. It looks STUCK. [X(]

As mentioned in my previous list, the 1951 Christmas Carol is one of my favorites, but I think I am going to add a second version as well. It is the 1984 made for TV version featuring George C. Scott. I just finished watching it again and I have to say it has become a favorite. It is a bit darker than the Sims version and serves as a nice companion. So if you want to view a second version of A Christmas Carol, I heartily recommend this one...

Anything by Laurel and Hardy. Love it when they show these (rarely nowadays) at Christmas. This too reminds me of Christmas's when dad was alive.

Then there's The Great Escape [&o] if you ignore James Coburn's hideous Aussie accent [X(]

I know, I know, not exactly a Christmas film but was a regular feature at Christmas time when I was younger [:)]

As for a proper Christmas film - has to be A Christmas Carol - any version will do inc Bill Murray's Scrooged - its just such a great story.

A new 10 DVD box set of Laurel and Hardy was released last month and it is on my post Christmas buying list. You can find it for alot less than the SRP.......

Great set that. I also have it right here. Was cheap when one of the major high street shops closed down. About £25. Not bad for 21 DVD's!

Laurel and Hardy pure comedy genius.

I posted a link to a then and now Christmas Story article and this was mentioned:

"Flick had no choice but to stick his tongue to the pole after being 'triple-dog-dared' by his bud, Schwartz. This infamous scene is still a fan favorite from this Christmas comedy. Schwartz's tongue didn't really stick to the pole, it was well above freezing when the movie was being filmed. Instead, they shoved a suction tube inside the pole to simulate the act."

I love this movie as well. Funny thing is the actual Christmas Story house is less than a 1/2 hour from where I live and yet to be there to see it firsthand:) Tried to convince the wife this year, but I lost :)

For me it has to be "A Christmas Story"

"Bad Santa" follows pretty closely. Who doesn't like to see a falling down drunk do good?
