A few screenshots...

Post by Erik Rutins »

I don't have time (unfortunately!) to do an AAR, but here are a few teaser shots from a test game that is fairly well developed to help pass the time. Please note that none of the final race art is in this build yet, so ALL of the race art you see here is stub/placeholder art.

Goodaye Eric,

Appreciate the screenies!

Couple of questions.

1: What are the lines on the galaxy maps for? I take it they aren't warp lanes but trade routes perhaps?

2: Screenshot #6, Ulabrea. The info panel bottom left shows details of a planet called 'CX754'. On a line titled 'Value' it has a musical note icon with 150%. Is this some kind of cultural influence system in operation here?

3: Screenshot #10 showing detail on a particular star called 'Tashtur Sinika'. It gives ENERGY ratings for Solar, Microwave and X-Ray. What function do these serve in the game?

4: Given that you've obviously played it for a while are you able to make a comment on the games AI?

It's got a single player focus which is great but there appears to be an awful lot of stuff going on simultaneously and I was wondering how much of your processor would be left over to handle the AI side?

I realise that your position requires you to promote the game but perhaps there's still some wriggle room for an informed comment.

Cheers,

Lancer

Wow, thanks for your time to put these up Erik, it's appreciated. The galaxy looks like it can get very busy later in the game....[:D]

Number 1 is the trade routes. Protect your trade. Also the red dotted line in screenshot 9 shows 7th Fleet in route to the Ulabrea system.

2 is the development level of your colony. The higher the better for your colony.

3 This works with research. Build a research station at a Neutron star which has very high radiation and get a research bonus.

4 I think the AI does a good job, I've had my butt kicked by it. [:)]

Hey hadberz can you explain how subjucated dominions and protectorate works?

PS. Bonus from race look like 'gotta catch them all game'. Dont like this. I dont know what I expect but not something like that. Troops maintace - I see that Empire can form units from varius races then upkeep should be scaled on units(example Human units 100%, units form from Naxxailian 60%).
On the other hand if ships and space station have crew then bonus from ship maintance should aply only for ships with crew from race with bonus. On the other hand this seem logical if your military or economy specialize.I mean miners are only Teekan and enginers on ships are only Taakonish but this discrimination less gifted races can be a problem in empire.
Lower war weariness becoze you have sulken in your empire... I think that bonus should be based on partially on population if tis bonus is global(example you have 50% humans and 50% sulken in your empire then only 50% from sulken bonus aply to your empire in this case -20% war weariness) or should be war weariness count for any planet indywidually. I mean humans colonies get normal WW sulken colonies get lower WW. This happines bonus too should working like that. I really dont see how one race can effect your all citizens(f tey are psionics then this is look difrently though).

My two cents dont pay too much attention. Anyway looking for more info and realese this game arleady.
