Fremen (a spanish collegue) and me agree to begin a new game. Fremen will be the Japanese agressor and I will play like "good guys".

Agreements about House Rules:

a)Kido Butai must return to metropolitan port after Pearl Harbor attack. Only one exception (Wake). KB can return to other national islands like Palaos-Truk-Saipan or Kwajalein.

b)Aircraft per airfield level is 50 + 10 % (i.e. an airfield with level 3 can operate with 165 airplanes). HQ counts to this maximum (9.4 AE rulebook). Airfield level 0 can operate with maximum 36 floatplanes.

c) Chinese airfields can not operate with 4E bombers. There is a limit on MAX 4 non Chinese 4E bomber squadrons can be stationed in china. They must be US squadrons and operate only out of level 6+ AFs.

d)4E con not fly naval attack missions

e) All PT in the same hex must be in one TF.

f) No Sub invasions. No air dropping 1 squad via airdrop or similar gamey tactics.

g) No ships or submarines can be sending to a target hex out of range. (exceptions: TF´s meeting with AO´s replenishment TF)

i) Japanese player must to pay to move Kwangtung forces out of Manchukuo. Thay Forces cannot move out of 3 hexes of their national frontier.

j) We can only airdrop a unit on a target if it has at least 40 prep points on the target it’s dropped on.

k) No strategic bombing over China.

l) No chinese troops out of China, except forces under other HQs.

m) NO allied reaction to Tarawa landings to avoid gamey tactics. After Wake receive the japanese first visit, the american can react to this whatever they want.

n) Thai forces no more than 3 hexes away this national border.

So are you saying Palaos-Truk-Saipan or Kwaj count as a "metropolitan port"? Or does KB have to go back to Japan before visiting those places?

Hmm, never ever? Not even at high altitude? Also, what about skip bombing -- the Allies did use some 4E for this on occasion later in the war, didn't they?

This is such a common house rule, but I always wanted to ask: right now it doesn't cost PPs to move those forces out? This rule was so common in WITP that I wonder why it still doesn't cost PPs to move these units in AE.

Interesting. You mean, if Japan invades Tarawa before Wake, the Allies can't re-invade Tarawa immediately? Is there a time limit you have in mind?

And a question about a rule not on your list: is it OK for the Allies to bomb their former oilfields etc in the DEI after Japan conquers them?

Hi Grotius, going on with your questions:
1.- this ports (Saipan-Kwajalein-Palaos-Truk) like Home Ports, right.
2.- the 4E bombers could not be designed for this kind of attack and the outcome of LB attack with 4E against shippings is so high like actually.... another question is skip-bombing tactics like 5th Air Force at NG/Bismarcks.
Sure, several times 4E bombers attack enemy ships, like the first days at P.Island where a B-17 pilot clams the BB Haruna sunk ! (??), and another time in the Midway battle without sinks.
3.- Kwangtung, they are under restriction command but they can move into China, this rule is to avoid that without paying the political points.
4.- the China industry is craftman´s mainly. The impact of strategic bombing (like AE) at China is out of scope.
5.- About Tarawa landing. I think is a gamey tactic attack with american carriers to this task forces unprotected. Is like americans knows about headings, speeds, times of arrivals and final destiny of enemy task forces (and the ships involved in this task). We are agree about Dec 11th 1941 american can react to this offensive japanese movements.
