Demo?

World War II: General Commander is an introductory war strategy game which brings a unique mix of scale, combat dynamics, and force management. An intuitive combination of rules and controls will give beginning wargamers and real time strategy fans the opportunity to simulate Germany’s famous last Blitzkrieg from either side.

Demo?

Post by mavraamides »

I've heard references to a demo in a few posts but looking at the product info page, I don't see a link to one.

Can someone point me to the demo if it exists?

I'd really like to take a look at this unique and interesting game.

Yep, we will also be releasing the demo on our site in the next few days. Note that the version above is for the original non-Matrix release, but it is representative.

Any significant differences in the 1.3 release version vs. the Demo 1.1 version (other than MP)?

Please note the old demo also has out of date documentation which can be a bit challenging. Our release has a new manual that's more clear.

Yeah..it took awhile to download and run the set-up. I haven't got past the manual yet but plan to play it more tonight to get a better feel for the game.

I played the demo of this about a month ago and when I used the pause function, the time continued to advance as if the pause had no affect except to stop animation. [&:]

Hi Larry,

Pause should stop the game, Time Out reduce it to x5 (it is almost stopped considering the combats times)

Hi old spec4,

1.3 vs 1.1, only the MP change.

Thanks for the reply. So the pause is not a full pause then?

No, pause is a full pause. In addition, there's time out, which slows it down to a crawl.

I'm downloading the demo again now to see if I am confusing this with another. Doesn't make sense to me. [&:]

I remember the pause feature was not what I expected, so I will see and post what I found.

I tell you, sometimes my head is so far up my ... that I'm amazed I get out of bed in the morning. I don't even drink alcohol. I downloaded the demo again, and used the pause and the time functions, and they work wonderful. I had thought for sure that the pause did not entirely pause. It does. I can't imagine having mixed this up with another demo, but I must have. I'm sorry for taking up the bandwidth on this. [&o] [X(]

By the way, the game looks excellent! [:)]

Hi old spec4,

Thanks for the info. Another question...is there a jump map available? Its difficult to see the entire Demo battlefield w/o lots of scrolling.

Oldspec4,

Are you using your mouse wheel to scroll out and scroll in?

Yes..and also A and Z keys to zoom. I use a jump map to quickly get me to parts of the battlefield as needed. Using the mouse and/or arrow keys to scroll is slow for me; and I lose awareness of some battlefield action.
