I have met a similar problem with WestFront. When playing against the computer and it is the AI's turn, sometimes (many times) the message occurs that the program has to cut down due to a 'runtime-error' (as can be seen from studying the logbooks). This can happen directly or via the so called DEP (Data Error Protection) routine. I thought this might be caused beause I was playing a very large scenario (500 x 800 hexes, about 20.000 units) which most probably can not properly be handled by the present system. It always happens when the comtuter has finished its bombardment and shooting and is busy with its many (many, many) moves. To overcome this inconvenience, I save the game several times during a turn, both in my own as well as in compu's turn. The message that 'more than two savings were noted', I take for granted.

I had a freeze-up during the artillery phase of a linked campaign scenario in Rising Sun (running on XP). It's the second scenario in the innvasion of Japan campaign, in the second turn of the game. The AI makes it moves, then when it comes back to the Allied artillery phase it freezes before the bombardment of one particular hex. No error message, just the hourglass icon and no further gameplay.

Which hex? Is there something special about? Fortification type or unit types?

It's an unrevealed objective hex with no units visible to the human player. Probably a cave? I'm pretty sure I lost LOS on the hex during the Axis turn, as well.

I just purchased JTCS a few nights ago and it occurs to me that I never installed 1.04. I wasn't sure if the download was updated to the latest patch.
