2.3 and Win 11

Post by TheGrayMouser »

Hi guys, I installed 2.30 ( fresh install with full installer 2.30 d/l from Slitherine on Windows 11 64bit )

The menu screen will launch but when play is selected it just shuts down, no error or anything and wont launch the game
I looked in the logs folder and no logs were generated.

Any ideas?

Hmm, that's an oddity.

Maybe try installing it in a different location?

Trying turning off your anti-virus?

Do you have any other CSME installs on the system?

Its a fresh install of Windows so no remains of anything. Its installed to the default of c / Matrix games etc etc.. Along with other Matrix Games which work fine...

So I ran it as " an administrator" off the shortcut and it launches. Kind of odd and annoying, no other shortcut or exe requires me to do that...

How does one make that "'stick" so to speak?

Try right clicking on the exe files and have them run as administrator?

That might work.

Not sure why that is doing that for you, but it could be windows 11 thing. I noticed I had to do that with items I have installed in Program Files(x86).

I've just installed ver. 2.3 on Windows 11 Home 23H2 22631.3737, works flawlessly "out of the box". I have admin privileges on my account. Launching the Game Menu invokes UAC but nothing else. Game is installed in default C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\Campaign Series Middle East location.
BTW Jason, great to see this updated after 9 years, congrats!
