Maybe you should read up on siege of Leningrad in real life and learn just how did the city earn it's Hero City title? :)

RE: Too difficult--by far

<r> This thread has inspired me to try the game on Easy game in vain hope that Easy may have become the new Hard. No such luck <E>:)</E><br/> <br/> Javolenus, no disrespect intended, but this is not the game, it's the gamer. You have said you are Ok with losing as long as you can learn and improve. ...

RE: Narrated Video AAR

mikerolf1, I finally decided to try the game on Easy and yes, you can recruit up to 4 units sometimes in Africa, 4 African infantry to be specific.

<t> Ah, totally agree. Traits are already in the game for some generals: Hannibal and Fabius, but some other generals could benefit from them as well. RE: Change List For Version 1.0.4

<r> I lose one game in five on Hard, usually rage quitting over some stupid move I made without thinking <E>:)</E> My biggest challenge nowdays is trying to beat AI under 10 moves, 5 being my record. 15 turns is my comfort zone (i.e. I am upset with myself if I drag the war any longer). Therefore, I...

I did notice that I enjoy those games more where Hannibal is down to a handful of unis and you have to fight for survival first and victory later. Good job on pulling though this one.

RE: Change List For Version 1.0.4

<t> I spoke too soon.<br/> <br/> Another AI improvement. Rally Legion card use. AI seems to be programmed to randomly select a legion to rally, Latin or Roman, which usually doesn't matter (although a true Roman would probably sacrifice an allied legion first). However, there are some battles where ...

<r> <QUOTE><s>[quote]</s>So that was my reasoning. However, you can make a case that the Romans actually leaned on their own cavalry first. RE: Change List For Version 1.0.4

<t> Another AI Improvement: smarter use of Siege cards. AI is taught to use them on Major cities, but it looks like it ignores the size of the garrison. E.g. AI attempts to retake Cis. Gaul. Genoa is defended well, but Placentia has only one unit and the minor towns two each. AI attacks Placentia an...

RE: Brief AAR

Happened to me twice - I never leave Hannibal inside the city anymore. I also have lost other generals to Roman "suicidal attacks" on fortified cities, but one can afford to take that chance.

RE: Change List For Version 1.0.4

AI Improvement: when selecting cavalry losses, make AI always select Roman cavalry first and Latin later - this is something a player would always do, no reason to keep AI at disadvantage.

<r> Nice AAR. Shame about Phillip - this is precisely why I never let him do any campaigning alone. You shouldn't really treat him as a general at all, just a VIP to be guarded. He ranks last among the starting Carthaginian generals and cannot recruit. You can gain little by separating him from the ...

<t> CLEVELAND, my only advise is: do not be greedy with your Macedon troops - save the Elite infantry and cavalry, but feel free to use the rest as casualties. If Romans play their diplomacy cards, you lose them anyway. If they don't, there is a chance these units will come back as Macedon reinforce...

RE: attack and defense unit nomenclature and other observations

<r> If your "final", not "ingame" score is based not only on number of cities conquered, but also on number of units lost (negative) and number of turns spent (positive), then you will not see too many players trying to conquer every corner of W.
