Why WEGO?

WEGO WWII: Stalingrad breaks away from traditional turn-based systems by using a WEGO (We Go) system, where both players plan their moves simultaneously. The result? A dynamic and unpredictable battle where you have to anticipate your opponent’s actions and react to shifting circumstances — all without knowing exactly what they’ll do next and with fog of war, without even knowing the location or exact strength of their reserves. This system introduces a level of uncertainty (and tactical opportunities!) that are not present in normal turn-based games, forcing players to try and manage the chaos in every turn.

Why Stalingrad?
WEGO WWII: Stalingrad covers the German 1942 campaign from Operation Heron in July through to the ferocious urban fighting in November. This was one of the most pivotal and brutal confrontations of World War II—a battle that began with the German 6th Army’s rapid advance across the southern steppes and ended in a desperate, close-quarters struggle amid the ruins of Stalingrad itself.

The game spans this transformation, offering scenarios that range from mobile operations in open terrain to intense street fighting inside the city. Each scenario is built around carefully researched Orders of Battle, on both land and in the air, delivering historical authenticity while giving players the opportunity to rewrite – or relive – critical moments of the campaign.

Stalingrad’s unique mix of tactical complexity and operational scale makes it the perfect setting for a WEGO wargame – challenging players to adapt to shifting conditions, manage chaos, and make hard choices under pressure.
