Home of Wargamers 2026 - Recap

socials
Published on October 02, 2026

The annual appointment for wargamers has featured exciting news, a surprise release, new reveals and insightful interviews from the wargaming world.

If you missed the event you can rewatch it here:

You can also find a written recap below. See you next year.

Combat Mission Cold War Battle Pack

A new DLC is now available.

Combat Mission Cold War – Battle Pack is available now for $9.99, bringing 16 new standalone scenarios and one full campaign.

PLEASE NOTE: To play this Battle Pack, you must own both the base game, Combat Mission Cold War, and the British Army of the Rhine DLC on Steam.

New battles, new tactical challenges

Experience modern warfare at a time when neither side could take its advantages for granted. NATO has yet to achieve the overwhelming technological superiority associated with later conflicts, while Soviet forces are evolving beyond the mass-based doctrines of previous decades.

Success depends on how you command. Coordinate infantry, armor, artillery, and supporting assets, exploit local advantages, and adapt as the battle develops. In this closely balanced battlefield environment, even small tactical decisions can determine the outcome.

Much of the Battle Pack builds upon the forces introduced in British Army of the Rhine, taking you to the training grounds of the British Army Training Unit Suffield (BATUS) in Canada, alongside engagements exploring a hypothetical confrontation between NATO and Warsaw Pact forces.

Decisive Campaigns: Twilight in the East

Home of Wargamers 2026 is officially wrapped! Yesterday was a huge day for wargaming fans, we released brand-new DLCs, announced exciting new games, shared development updates on upcoming titles, and announced the new: Decisive Campaigns: Twilight in the East.

Another exciting announcement for hardcore wargamers and fans of Decisive Campaigns series: a new chapter, Twilight in the East, is in the works.

The developer, Victor Reijkersz, has talked extensively about how players will relive the operational battles of 1941 on the Eastern Front at an unprecedented scale and level of immersion, focusing on the campaigns of Army Group Centre while also representing the wider war in the East.

To watch the full interview:

The game features detailed artwork, with different uniforms and vehicle designs, seven ground conditions ranging from regular terrain to deep snow, six weather types, and a day-night cycle that add visual variety and realism.

The new installment expands the Decisive Campaigns series both in terms of its engine and content, while its integration of Slitherine’s PBEM++ system provides a more streamlined multiplayer experience. At launch, the game will include eight small scenarios, seven medium scenarios, three large scenarios, and one massive scenario. It will also feature the equipment and troop-type graphics needed to create scenarios covering the entire Eastern Front from 1941 to 1945, meaning modders can begin creating their own content without having to wait for future DLCs.

Finally, Decisive Campaigns: Twilight in the East will officially release on November 12th! Stay tuned for future dev diaries as we dive deeper into development. Don't forget to wishlist the game now on Matrix, join our newly-created official Decisive Campaigns Discord server and to sign-up for the beta!

Armored Brigade II: Rhine Shield

Introducing Rhine Shield, a new DLC for Armored Brigade II, bringing France, Belgium and the Netherlands to the battlefield, with 400+ new units, a new map and three campaigns spanning three decades of the Cold War.

Had the Cold War turned hot, NATO’s defence of Central Europe would never have rested on its largest armies alone. Command three Western European nations, each bringing its own doctrine, equipment and strengths to the fight.

Hold a forward position on the North German Plain, fight a delaying action through West German farmland, or launch a counterattack in the wooded hills of the Ardennes. Adapt your tactics to each army and make the most of what it brings to the battlefield.

Visit the store page to discover more about Rhine Shield.

As part of our annual Home of Wargamers event, we had the pleasure of interviewing Nikola Sandic, database specialist for Armored Brigade.

Command: Modern Operations

The 1.09 update builds on the success of Tides of War and its progressive campaign mechanics, while continuing to improve depth and simulation fidelity. Players can expect incremental and timestamp saves, explicit GNSS jamming, a major aerial refueling overhaul, and refined air-to-air missile energy and kinematics. Real-Time Multiplayer (RTMP) introduces human-versus-human Command operations, replacing predictable AI behavior with more dynamic and unpredictable tactical situations.

Human opponents can break standard doctrines and force players to make rapid tactical adaptations under the fog of war. RTMP will also provide an analytical environment where players can test unconventional tactics, engagements, and scenarios that traditional AI routines may not naturally explore. Improved point-to-point communications are intended to provide smooth and responsive multiplayer matches, alongside recommended and updated scenarios optimized for RTMP. These multiplayer-focused scenarios will generally feature around 100–200 units and emphasize fluid, high-intensity engagements.

Version 1.10 will further expand the game with vector OSM maps, a new naval formation editor, APP-6 icon integration, improved sonobuoy realism and deployment, enhanced high-energy laser modeling, UAV and one-way attack kinematics, and submarine cargo operations. Longer-term development will continue to focus on simulation fidelity, including research into a revised sonar model and more advanced electronic warfare and jamming architecture. Real-Time Multiplayer is scheduled to launch on October 6, 2026, allowing players to experience Command operations directly against other human players.

Strategic Command: Korea

Strategic Command: Korea is a brand-new game in the Strategic Command series, bringing you to the Korean Peninsula for the first major conflict of the Cold War.

On June 25, 1950, North Korean artillery thundered along the 38th Parallel. Tanks swept past rice paddies and jet fighters screamed overhead, transforming the “Land of the Morning Calm” into a battlefield and bringing the world perilously close to a Third World War.

Take command of the United Nations or Communist powers in an epic struggle for control of Korea. From the desperate defence of the Pusan Perimeter to the frozen battlefields of the Chosin Reservoir, your decisions can change the course of the war.

Visit the store page to know all the details, gameplay changes and features.

Decision Point: Battlegroup Operational Simulation Events

Gameplay has been shown along the interview to Nicholas Edwards, Director and Lead Developer at NCED Wargame, where the key features of the game were highlighted.
To watch the full interview:

Decision Point is a near-future military strategy game where players take the role of battlegroup commanders, using NATO-standard commands and map-based orders to establish their overall operational intent. Once a plan is executed, subordinate units autonomously maneuver, engage enemies, and adapt to changing battlefield conditions: major decisions over micromanaging every unit. When the situation changes significantly, the game pauses at a Decision Point, allowing players to reassess and modify their strategy before continuing.
Set in realistic European conflicts and locations such as Ukraine and the Suwałki Gap, the game uses real-world geographic data, detailed terrain, realistic weapons and sensors, individual platform simulations, and a dynamic day-night cycle. It also includes a scenario editor for creating custom battles and sharing them through Steam Workshop.

Finally, Decision Point is officially coming in Q1 2027. Stay tuned for future dev diaries and news updates.
