First Scenario "Queen Elizabeth"
Your first challenge is to manage the most modern aircraft carrier in the world: the Queen Elizabeth, in a dangerous patrol in the waters of the Chinese sea.
Intelligence indicates that a number of Chinese Warships have been deployed to the South China Sea towards your location; their intentions are unknown at the present time. Use what you have available to you and react to the on-going situation.
In June 2020, China cracked down by imposing a National Security Law for Hong Kong, entirely bypassing the city's own legislature. This law grants Beijing sweeping new powers necessary to curb unrest; dealing a devastating blow for Hong Kong's freedoms. Since it came into force, local political parties have disbanded, protest signs have been pulled down across the city, and Hong Kong residents are fleeing to seek asylum or refuge in other countries.
Due to the recent tensions in Hong Kong and with permission from the Hong Kong Government, the Queen Elizabeth CVBG has conducted "NEO" and evacuated Staff from the British Consulate. The mission for Task Group 544.01 is now to establish an overt presence in the Northern Sector of the South China Sea and conduct Freedom of Navigation Operations and then transit to the Sea of Japan. Additional F-35's with tanker support have been ferried from the UK and are to embark on HMS Queen Elizabeth to increase CAG due to increased threat from China. The RAF have also deployed a number of Typhoons to assist in Operations and are based at Brunei International Airport.
US and Japanese Forces are at present conducting "Freedom of Navigation Operations" with USS Ronald Reagan's Group returning to Japan, after conducting Exercises with Australian Forces.
Carrier Strike Group 21’s potential visit to the disputed South China Sea may prove revealing to whether the UK-China relations have indeed entered a “new era” of competition.
