The battle of Jutland 1892 (1)

Post by mrchuck »

I like playing the 1890 scenario because big gun actions are the most fun. I've played through from here to around 1951 but my save game got corrupted so I've started again, as Germany once again because it is very challenging.

The position atm is less than ideal Britain has declared war on me and apart from the CAs building at the start I have nothing new.

However, the navy is covering itself with glory. I lost a CL on foreign service early. The Gelions are small and practically useless with 4in popguns so apart from the inconvenience I'm not that upset.

In the North Sea things are very different. On paper, GB had a big advantage with 8 Bs to 3. Then this battle popped up.

Dawn breaks. Good God, what is that?

6 enemy Bs between 1 BX and all the supports. Only one thing for it: do a Nelson. I charged all the cruisers at the enemy battle line and got away with it. They slip away to the south.

Aha! A lucky hit on one of them. They only way to deal with this sort of problem is to try cutting one out of the herd. We have our target. Still have a CA division arriving from the NE.

Ended up putting four or five fish into this one. No pre-dreadnaught can cope with that. One down.

The situation develops. Looks like another enemy B is in trouble. Extra credit?

Let's see if we can bag this one as well.

Nope. Seems to have sorted out its engine issues

Disengagement. They have no more stomach for the fight, and I'm running low on ammo and torps. Time to call it a day, job well done.

A nice prestige-enhancing victory which incidentally has broken their blockade.
This game is cool!
