Just to clarify things for you a bit....I have no affiliation with Matrix other than as a customer.

My intent was to try and generate a little discussion on what I would like to see happen, and to hear from others about what they would hope to see. That type of discussion is far more than some people can handle, however.

So I would like to suggest that a new thread be started....it could even be called "Children of the Corn"....and you could please just carry on over there. Elsewhere. Anywhere but here. [:-]

Speculation is now complete. I'll return my keyboard back to Too Much Trouble. [>:]

But first, as an ex-Marine I would say that the most important date is 10 November.....the birthday of the Marine Corps.

The timeframe is not set in stone, but there's a very famous anniversary coming up that's extremely important to WITP and you should know by then.

I think he means my Birthday - June 7th.

Any excess teasing I blame on Terminus. [;)]

It may be cruel? But in the future I see a fire in a giant pit, with Erik turning the spit... slowly roasting Terminus cooking him until it is safe to eat. Well at least as safe as possible cosidering the what is being cooked.

Who is bringing the beer?

I had too many shots of Canadian whisky last night. So is it okay if I bring the BBQ sauce instead to this party? Everyone is invited.

December 22, the day Dive Bomber1 and I started our PBEM.

I have it on good authority from Terminus that the WitP model will be completely changed. Even the name is changing to MitP (Misunderstanding in the Pacific). Matrix is growing tired of their "niche" clientèle and is seeking to expand into new demographics as yet untouched by their products.

Instead of opaque die rolls on an invisible Combat Result Table, there will be transparent results of a die roll on the Encounter Result Table. In the case of two opposing forces encountering each other on the new Earth Tone, energy saving map, some of the new possible results are:

1) Understand and respect each other's differences.
2) Realize diversity in the Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere is desirable.
3) Erect windmills in Palembang.
4) A whale is saved.
5) Share equipment so neither side has an unfair advantage.
6) Sit on organic cotton rugs and sing "Kum Ba Yah" over herbal tea and tofu.
7) Reduce Global Warming by 1%.
8) Select Mike Scholl as World Benevolent Despot.

In the case of one of the players feeling disenfranchised by a die result, that player may select a new result that gives him/her/it a better feeling of self-worth, and the other player is to respect that the upset player is special and unique in his/her/its own way.

I can't wait for the new AAR's!

LoL, Tiger. But they wouldn't be "AARs." They'd be "AIRs" -- After Inaction Reports. Or maybe "ATIOTDTKAMURs" -- "After Talk It Out Til Daylight Then Kiss And Make Up Reports." Er, maybe AIRs is catchier.

Me, I'm just glad that the Powers that Be haven't forgotten WiTP. Maybe they notice the rather large volume of fanatical posts in this forum...

ooh - so, the people who would be fanatics about the revamped game could be known as AIRheads... [:D]

This AW1Steve is a real basket case. A boycott of one should be very effective. Can't see many lemmings following him over the cliff.

I'm cool with you Matrix. You have given me too many hours of fun too be upset over something so trivial. Looking forward to anything you produce in your continuing support of this fine game.

Listen up: Attacking a person on these boards is neither wanted or appreciated. There are plenty of "flame-war" boards out there. I would appreciate it if you spend your energy attacking the person's postition with a well thought out and verbalized argument vice going after the person who already did that.

On Dec 7th, Eric will announce that WitP II will ship shortly and that it is a WEGO system so no database change and existing games are good to go. The WitP landscpe changes as we know it ......

Seriously though, would you rather we don't warn you that something's in the works? We'll tell you more as soon as we can.

Yes, if you got something to say, say it! This announcement of a comming announcement is pure BS!

That is a very poor way to look at things IMO. If you set your expectations too high, you will surely be disappointed. My prediction for the announcement will be that a new patch reduces the stock flak gap by 1000 ft., AND all current games are non-compatible.

I am fairly certain that one of their goals is that in order to create a more "close-knit" community, they have eliminated all PBEM play and greatly enhanced the AI. All PBEM'ers will then be required to play "hotseat", but this will result in no noticeable increase in the worldwide demand for non-blonde female roommates. However, the sales of the game will increase significantly due to the worldwide rejoicing that will occur when it is known that the game actually has a credible AI that works even beyond the first year of gameplay. With more revenue and increased interest, the rumored WITP II would then have a realistic chance of actually happening.

As long as we are dreaming, of course.
