And A Little DD Will Lead Them...

Post by Firebomber47 »

For anyone who has ever watched in despair as a CV group broke out of a cluster of task forces to chase after an enemy CV task force, only to get sent to the bottom, despite having set the task force to "No Reaction" and "No Retirement", here's a nifty trick that will keep your CVs all nicely packed together under their collective CAP umbrella. Form a new Air Combat task force with a single DD as its lone occupant, then set all other CV tf's to follow that one. Works like a charm.

Usually, but not always, so do not count on this being 100% effective. It does greatly reduce the chance of Cv's breaking off. I had several situations where I would form 15-ship single CV TF's only to have half go one way and half the other. Forming a BB group and keeping them with your carriers is also effective, as the game will sometime send strikes against the battleships and leave your carriers in the same hex alone.
