Couple of Questions on Waterloo...

Just a couple of odd things which I can't figure out :)

Currently playing as Boney in the Waterloo historical scenario (44 turns) in order to benchmark a score before testing out a scenario with a modded AI.

Game time is 4.30pm, yet the game is only reporting turn 21 of 44. Surely that can't be right? Any ideas on what might be wrong?

Second thing is I'm wondering who commands the Allied armies should the Duke of Wellington be incapacitated? Is it the Prince of Orange? Who gets promoted from the tier below that if both of those two are hors de combat? Does the promotion system break down if too many leaders are out of the battle?

Promotions are based on what leaders are available on the map at the time of loss. If Welly & Orange are out then if Hill (II Corps) or Uxbridge (Cav) are present one of them will take over.  But if no one is present then the chain of command breaks down and no one takes over.  It is just how the games are designed.  HPS runs the same way.
 
Can't recall the time issue. But every turn should be only 10 of 15 minutes long.

Thanks 1NWCG. All those leaders are out, so that's why the AI is having such problems I guess. Really, really should take better care of army and corps commanders but c'est la vie.

Got my times mixed up for Waterloo - the battle does end well into the evening, which is what had confused me. It's not a battle I've played through to the very final turn for many years and I'd forgotten that most accounts place Blucher and Wellington's meeting at 10pm as the 'end' of the battle. Gives the AI chance to try to do something with the Prussians I guess, but I'm now really regretting not conserving some artillery ammo as I'm down to 11 rounds with a good 5 hours of the battle left :D

Who takes over is based on the leadership attribute too. Ranks don't matter, as they're just labels for leaders. This leads to the silly situation for example at Stones River where Captain Morton the Engineer always takes over from Rosecrans over the heads of the 3 Corps commanders because he has leadership B.

So yeah, not always logical!

Who takes over what is also determined by their place in the OOB table.

Yeah the A/I is kind of a stink...it is not good w/its leaders and leaves them laying around. If and when you get comfortable enough with the game, try PBEM gaming at the Clubs in my signature. [:)] You'll be shocked at how people make the AI look bad... [:D]
