Text unreadable - game not playable for me
Text unreadable - game not playable for me
I've tried at least ten different fonts and they just don't help. The text is unreadable in most places. It's sad because I really want to play this game, but I can't read tooltips most of the time, and menu information.
I have Widescreen monitors and Win7 on all my desktops. I don't know what else to try. The game is unplayable for me at this point. Yes I tried windowed mode and it helped none at all.

Since I can't use the capture program I have with Horse and Musket running, what do you suggest me to use to capture the screen?

PrintScreen hasn't worked so far, unless I'm looking in the wrong folders for the picture files.

Well, try Verdana maybe, but I suppoused nothing will change. In my opinion on this screens the text are readable, but it is my personal opinion;

You consider this readable? Maybe it's because you know ahead of time what everything says. I tried verdana and tens of others. For a game made in 2009 this is not acceptable. I even put the game on my laptop with Vista and it was actually worse.

Maybe you have right, I see: fire coverage and 2/Konigsegg but it should be bigger letters. On this prints units are highlighted. If in Chotusitz not, try redo of Chotusitz see:tm.asp?m=2833819readable? Maybe it's because you know ahead of time what everything says. I tried verdana and tens of others. Nothing got better, it's actually worse if anything.
I really am frustrated with this game now. I'm very sorry I bought it at this point. Just being able to read the tooltip popup messages and the text in other places should not be an issue. No fonts have made it good enough and there is nothing left to do that I know of. Before I bought the game, I did a thorough forum read and I saw there may be some issues with text and graphics. I should have been smarter with my decision to buy.

Now that someone else is here, do you think the text is readable and OK for play? [&:]

Me? Yes I still can say that text is readable for me. I have played more than 100 battles in this game, and really many PBEM, noone complain for text so far... I will forced to change text view in next part of game, maybe another patch (2.0?) will be included?
Thanks anyway for info.

You definitely do not want to use a bold font. As you point out, the text is quite small and the extra pixels that boldface adds just muddies the water since there isn't room to smooth it out. Could you remove the bold and upload an image of that?
What resolution do you normally run your system in? The game runs in 1024x768. If you're running in a higher resolution, such as 1200x1024, then the graphics card will stretch the image slightly to make it this resolution. This stretching doesn't always work so well on LCD screens though and the "jaggies" are more noticeable at lower resolutions, where it has less space to smooth out the stretch. The solution is usually a video card setting telling the card not to stretch lower resolutions for full screen apps. (Or you can try setting your Windows Desktop to 1024x768 when playing the game).
That being said, of course, you indicated that it didn't look any better when running it in Windowed mode and there is no stretching involved in Windowed mode at all. But if you ran this Windowed mode test with a bold face font, it's going to look just as bad.
I guess I'd ask that you run Windowed mode with the default font settings and upload a screen scrape of a tool tip here. Then I can see if something is wrong with the image output or if the font/size we chose simply isn't working for you.
