WiF "Master Edition"

Post by Jagdtiger14 »

Wondering if Master Edition will find its way into Matrix WiF? Probably not since it will have new counters, new rules, new combat system and new maps.

One of the guys I game with and is working with (not for) ADG had a few comments that might be interesting: "Personally I think they (Matrix) are screwing themselves in that if Master Edition is viewed as better than WiF by a lot of people - say most people now playing WiF go to Master Edition - then how many of them will then want to take a step backwards and play computer WiF? If Master Edition sucks then no problem for the computer game.".

Curious to read your comments...
Conflict with the unexpected: two qualities are indispensable; first, an intellect which, even in the midst of this obscurity, is not without some traces of inner light which lead to the truth; second, the courage to follow this faint light. KvC

Master Edition is not part of MWIF product 1.

Predicting sales of an unfinished product is difficult, much less the ramifications of those sales.

I think that nobody knows what Master Edition will be. I'm even wondering if it will come out one day.
By the way, I read that the maps were the same, why are you saying "new maps" ?

Anyway, there are chances that Master Edition is a complete different game, and that there will be two playing communities, the WiF FE Deluxe, and the Master Edition.

master edition is a new project but can be played in two map-mode: with the original WIFFE maps or with the news WIFME maps.

If sameone is interested this is the link where you can found news. http://www.gdg.de/

or how about people who would dive into both?

I think MWiF will drive interest in WiF in general and bring in more new players and that will be great. If the current players of paper-n-cardboard WiF try out Master Edition when it's ready, and there's a lot of new players around, it will be good for both games. Then, the masses will demand of Steve - "Encore! Encore!"

Veterans playing WiF will not quickly convert to a new version (WiF itself does not appeal to the dilettante wargamer; this is defintely something you can't just pick up in an afternoon and play; a game this in depth is quite an investment in time and effort (not to mention money)), so MWiF should not be significantly negatively impacted. If anything, it should bring a bit better visibility, especially if ADG aggressively promotes it.

Wow, I look at that and am once again convinced that the simpler version of WiF, I mean like 2nd ed. is the far more playable game. The thing that attracted me to WiF was it was more detailed than AH's 3rd Reich yet not unplayably detailed like GDW's Europa. The details of "Master" version are a WiF's Europa.

Don't get me wrong, MWiF is right on track with what to include, what to make optional and what to save for later. But strictly speaking of the board game version, I'd rather play without all the "in Flames" expansions. Call me vanilla.

I am a "works pizza" type of general and am creating the "Slaaks Historical OB & SciFi Edition" rules for WiFFE with all addons that will be released someday in this lifetime. (I just know youre all holding your breath.) [:'(]

(Obvioulsy a neophyte. Thas ok he's in training and will hopefully be ready when the convention starts.) [:D]

I hope to be running all three games all at once when the Wargamers Temple compound opens. Volunteers welcome. [:D]

I like the way that sounds. Thanks bro. The glory is too awesome to be true. Imagine how lucky we are to be alive at this point in history with so many beautiful options....WiF, 3rd R, Europa, War in Europe....etc etc etc. Someone upstairs must like us alot. [:D]

Germany's unforgivable crime before the Second World War was her attempt to extricate her economy from the world's trading system and to create her own exchange mechanism which would deny world finance its opportunity to profit.

Man sometimes I write in such a whiney style. Yes it is AWESOME to have an ever increasing set of choices that bring us ever closer to the halcyon days of war gaming. I simply meant to say that I like vanilla WiF, it makes me happy on the inside. Have a ball pushing those thousands of divisions around a map of the world -- if you're going to go whole hog, a WiF version is the way to go!
