Bombardment TF with Auto Disband

Post by KPAX »

Have question.

It is 1-1-42 and my opponent is invading Hawaii. KB, of course, is present.

He has landed on two of the little island. KB, thus far, has been focused on Naval Attack and not hitting PH port. Ih yes, he spent 10 days at the beginning pounded me at PH.

Can I set up a Bomb TF hit one of the little bases and return to disband in PH with Auto Disband on? I do not want to keep the TFs up since he is on Naval attack.

Or, if set on Auto Disband, will it auto disband on my base that I am tacking after bombarding?

I want it to bombard and return and disband in PH.

And, we are playing two-day turns.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

If the TF home port is set to PH, it should return there before disbanding.

Much depends on the Ops points expended. If the TF you created uses up most of the night phase TF getting to the target and bombarding, it might not get back to PH in time to disband before the enemy can send bombers. Set the TF to Full Speed to have the best chance of doing your plan. Set escorting DDs to "No Escort Bombardment" to minimize ops points expenditures at target.

For such short distances, it will almost certainly disband before the air phases. But there is a chance it won't.
