June 12-14 Allied CV lunge northward sinking several transports and a big tanker - but my surface TF comes through ok

20TH JUNE 43
Allies pushing hard and their luck into the DEI , landing by sea and a para landing - Near Rabaul allies lose a lot of planes against my light CV supporting re supply of N Borneo. Including a few new Corsairs. Allied LBA flying low (4000 ) put one TT into a CVL but the damage was slight.
Japanese surface TF near Ambon losses one CA to retire from action with three bomb hits but now we will risk a night dash to try and intercept their CV - we will see what happens. Some LRCAP has been put in place for the morning.

Allied CV intercepted but get away 3 times!!! And more than one TF as well.
Pretty bad considering I have all fast ships and they had some very slow ones in the TF . Allied planes however do not manage to do too much in the morning turns and we gat away with it just.

July 1st - attrition on both sides in DEI . At least the offensive is not to rapid time to get stuff in there - but the oil will soon be under threat.

Allied deep probes and further landings DEI 17th July 1943. 2 X DD lost this turn to allied CV aircraft.

18th July - More action - deeper penetration by allies but Jap PT boats take a savage toll. Over 3000 allied soldiers lost on several Transport ships sunk including Titanic - very risking using this ship to invade!
He bags several transport ships and 4 small TK with his CV. Around 70 aircraft lost on both sides,
Japanese subs continue with some success. 2 CVE sunk in the last week plus other TR ships.
Next turn will be epic as we have come out to fight...

Note interesting hit by allied aircraft rocket on a U boat - rockets were used quite a lot in ASW roles I read. Added them in for some planes committed to this role. Anyway nice we have them working in the mod ...

1st Aug 1943 - A Jap sub gets properly lucky ( we hope) - allies trying to move forward again probably more stuff bound for Celebes.
As a side note I never run fast important ships with slow old BB they can be a real liability - Dean has done this quite a lot and it has cost him.

In addition to the shill with the pink background there needs to be an artwork image of what it should look like on one of the strips of ship images in the art folder.

So you had them there, but I don't know how the shill is linked to the artwork. On my install, the shills are in subfolders of the art folder Allied or JapaneseShipClasses or Ship_Transp. The artwork ship is AlliedShip_Back or JapaneseShip_Back. There were no such images in the main ART folder, only in the subfolders.

What map mod are you using in this? Is this the new extended beta map including the new offshore bases?

No this is our ongoing game with the old map. BUT the new version V2.0a is for the new map only . BUT id someone really wants it for the old map we could do it but I see little point as they are bound to tidy up a lot of other issues soon.
BTW if you are interested there is a new patch due 2.0b with a few minor tweaks and play balance stuff as at Aug 43.

Ah yes, thanks. I was just wondering whether this was the new map already, but since not, I figured that apparently there are no graphic mods for the new map (like Bellum Pacifica or Yamato Damashii). Anyway, installed the 2.0a scenario/mod and it looks really neat and really good AAR.
