From what I've read, Pennsylvania and New York were both interested in acquiring their namesake battleships for museums/war memorials, but they were needed for nuclear testing.

It would have been nice to have any of the 3. Hopefully the USS Texas can be repaired: I'd hate to see her junked to turned into a reef

Fascinating video. Unfortunately it's only "old geezers" like us who appreciate the significance of these ships.

she was found? How could she be considered "lost?" Couldn't the Navy remember where they sank her?

Nope, they just had general bearing from the ships during gunnery practice but they did not have a GPS system on the Nevada.

Texas is in desperate need of major repairs from what I understand.
It really needs to be drydocked permanently. Very expensive! Olympia too.
I have seen neither ship yet. [:(]

I stopped by Fall River back in Feb. It was a miserable weather day. The volunteers doing upkeep outnumbered the paying customers. That said, the Big Mamie seemed to in decent shape. The exGDR missile ship they have.....not so good. They have done a pretty good job of facilities to host Boy Scout sleepovers on the USS Massachusetts. But if they do not get more traffic we may lose some of these ships. Not sure whatever happened to that CVL down south.

Maybe some US Veterans groups could help out. Some of them have money that they can only use for charitable purposes, not for their organizations.

Of all of the ships, that one should have been saved.
