P-70A-1 Havoc Mystery

Post by Chris21wen »

There are 9 NFS due to arrive startins Sept 43 with 4 out of 12 a/c each plus an unpgrade to an existing P-40B unit. The a/c becomes available Sept 93 to Sept 43 but there are none being built so it will be totally impossible to fill out the units?

I'm confused[&:]

I've just noticed a similar problem with the following US night fighters:-

PV-1N Ventura
F4U-2 Corsair
P-61C Black Widow

Not to mention the problem with the P-70 Havoc which I have 30 but cannot upgraded anything to it.

There is one squadron of P40B s (can't remember the squd number) that can be converted to the P70A. I think it was originally stationed at Pearl Harbor on or soon after the beginning of the main campaign. That is the only squadron that can use these planes.

Have not gotten to late 43 with my campaign so I can't answer your other questions.

Guys the P-70 upgrade isn't the problem that's something I threw in before I realised that going off PDU resulted in not being able to use the planes at all.

My real problem is the other US NF or lack of them.

8 of the 9 squadrons should upgrade to P-61A, the other one to B-25H.

The P-70A-1 build rate is correct, only 39 P-70s were converted to P-70A-1.

There isn't a build rate in game. The 9 x P-70A-1 units that arrive have a total of 30 a/c.

What about the PV-1N and P-61C neither of these have any build.

The build rates for the P-70A-1, PV-1N, P-61C, and F4U-2 should all be 0. These rates are based on the historical numbers of these planes; very few were built, and even fewer actually made it into combat in the Pacific.

There is only 1 squadron that arrives with PV-1Ns, VMF(N)-531. This unit can have a max of 15 planes, and there are 15 PV-1Ns available in-game.

No squadrons arrive with P-61Cs.

What is with the British dive bombers (I think Vengeance) which have a decent build rate but I found no unit which actually can convert to them ? [&:]

The Australian RAAF has a couple of squadrons, which upgrade to the Vengeance.

Aha, any idea when ? Cause untill now (=Oct. 42) I found neither Brits nor Aussie sqdr. which will accept them. Would be nice if I could upgrade those pesky Wirraways. But the option is not given. Maybe this works only with automatic upgrades on ?

The squadrons are listed below, Im not sure about the British upgrade dates, but would guess it would be the same as the RAAF.

No 12 Squadron RAAF - 43/04
No 23 Squadron RAAF - 43/04
No 24 Squadron RAAF - 43/04
No 25 Squadron RAAF - 43/04
No 45 Squadron RAF - 43/04?
No 82 Squadron RAF - 43/04?
No 84 Squadron RAF - 43/04?
No 110 Squadron RAF - 43/04?

Yes, for some reason you are producing plenty of these frames before any unit can accept them. It is the case with a few other frames as well. PBY liberators go into production in late 42 but there is only one unit that I found that can take them until new squadrons start to come on line in early 1943.
