What am I missing about air group morale?

Post by wokelly »

Did something change with air group morale from a few months back? My air groups (especially tactical air force in the Med) just collapse morale wise and I have no clue why. It is not excessive losses, my plane losses are not more then 200-300 losses a week. The fatigue is low, so its not that they are tired. But right now most of my tac air force is sitting at under 40 morale. Is it because I am moving them around a lot to different air bases as I advance?

I don't know if is a bug. Can't figure out how to upload save for devs, the upload option is not working (says the file is not supported?).

Damage from Flak causes morale loss.

You can fly less missions with them, so they don't get hit as often, or you can try flying higher so the flak has a harder time damaging them. Or you can try and avoid hitting strong flak areas such as ports etc.

Don't worry too much about morale for air groups - its major importance is in sortie generation rate. Low morale units fly less. Experience is more important in combat.

question about this?

In WiTE morale matters, in particular if the unit is <50 (common with the early game Soviets) you get a lot of 'turned back' messages (both for bombing and air to air interception). Has this factor not made the transition to WiTW?

I don't know the definitive answer but the air game is completely different. I used to think morale had more impact but Pavel told me it only really effects sortie rate and he did write the code.

Morale check is still there.
