No 8MP - ended in a Soviet surrender on T065 and an Axis victory. The sister team game 2x3+ though is ongoing although the AAR is a long way behind the action right now https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.a ... 7&mpage=15

There is a plan to start a team game out of WitE2. Probably after the air system is finalized. There are enough people who have played these team games in the testing group to start one now.

I have experience in both (1st and 2nd plus learning WitW) no experience with the team (mp) games. But am interested (especially in 2).

@Zovs

From my experience, team games can be a lot of fun :-) I think it's more natural playing the game in team, it gives everyone a scope on which to focus and that makes a better playing experience in my opinion.

That is when everyone is on the same page of course. Egos can sometimes have their way.

Do you have permission from Matrix/the authors to override your NDA? [note: If I were Matrix, I'd sure as heck consider it, good publicity cannot hurt]

No and to be honest this is only an idea being floated around. And the feeling was it would not start until after the current big change they are making in the WitE2 game engine.

In practical terms I am not even sure we can talk about the game to other testers outside of the special matrix forums provided for them. In a team game where real time chat through discord helps the game go a lot faster, not having that could be a real handicap.

Others know the gaming industry better than me. But in the more general corporate world the marketing department gets very skittish about any message that is not controlled by them. Even if the message is probably very good, they would rather not have it due to the risk of someone else delivering it. That said I know Slitherine-Matrix do allow youtubers to cast their play throughs before release dates. So at least to some extent I know the gaming industry is different in that way. But we have had a lot of trolling problems with the team games in these forums for about a year. And someone was actively trying to stop anyone interested in a team game from joining until Slitherine moderators intervened. So I could understand that they might be worried about what would be seen in open public forums?

If we were to do this I would spend a lot of time working on an AAR. My presumption was it would be mainly to help the developers (bug hunting or querying features). But as the game would likely run on into when the game is released, I would hope the AAR could simply be ported into the public forums for WitE2 when it is released at least?

I think it would be worth asking Matrix. The worst they can do would be say no.

Could you have a publicly viewable AAR which could only be posted in by testers? That would avoid the worst of the internet. And/or with posts that are hidden until the marketeers clear them to be published - I know the forums have a functionality for hiding posts. That would be a lot of work for Matrix staff but if it really was of value then it might be something they would like to do?

Started on v1.10 and was played on until v1.11.03

The logistical cycle described here for example would not work in the same way in v1.12 although there are other ways to bring more fuel/supplies up (although I have not tested them). The Kabuki dance and cycling through NR still apply though.

Mythbusting recon spam

Post by Telemecus »

Given how much discussion there was on the use of Recon Spam I thought it was worth linking to a wonderful thread started by eskuche here https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4772215

Basically their conclusion was Recon Spam, in the sense of generalised scattergunning of Soviet interceptors, simply does not work.

Thanks guys for a very entertaining read! I was very much looking forward to seeing the kessel being closed and all soviet troops marched into their cozy new accomodations, but, all for the best. I have played just one sp game of WITE myself and found myself just scratching at the surface of it. I admire all the expertise on display and look forward to engaging with WITE2 when it comes out. Thanks for educating us amateurs! I also have invested a lot of time reading AAR's on WITP:AE, although am still too intimidated to purchase it (I also have small children and a wife that may deport me to siberia if I sink that much time into another wargame to learn the ropes)
