Quick question?

Other than space ports producing and retrofitting private ships, where does bonus income come from?

Cause I still have bonus income after destroying all my spaceports

So I did some tests I found out:

-When freighters pick up and drop off resources on mining stations they pay tax. I don't know the exact percentage, but I see a +1k to +2k per tick of bonus income for 62 freighters of mixed sizes.

-The same goes for spaceports. The income is much lower since there are less space ports than mining stations. For spaceports I see approximately +50 to +100 per tick of bonus income for 1 spaceport and 62 freighters of mixed sizes. So it's very little that it doesn't matter.

-Bonus income from trading. Trading occurs between private sectors of separate empires even without a free trade agreement. The higher the price of a resource the more tax the state receives when exporting and importing.

- The private sector pays taxes for exports and imports separately.

- With a free trade agreement you get extra trading income for that empire you have the agreement with. The bonus is shown in foreign trade bonuses on the empire summary tab.

- The money the state receives from sources mentioned above comes from thin air, the private sector does not pay from their cash pool or from their income.

If any of this is wrong, please correct me.

So in summary, other than private ship production and retrofits, bonus income comes from:
- Mining station docking tax
- Spaceport docking tax
- Trading tax

That is very interesting information
I find the economy is quite opaque... but I've not done the kind of granular testing you seem to be doing
I hope you will report anything else you discover
and maybe others have some insight

Afaik space ports have the commerce module which grants an economic bonus to the planet its attached to. Never really paid much attention to how much extra income it generates though.
