Greek-Turk War 1919-1922

Post by lion_of_judah »

Greek-Turkish War 1919-1922

working on another scenario along with my Afghan one. This takes place during the Greek-Turk war May 15th 1919- October 1922. The Turks start out with the majority of her forces being conscripts, and only a few regular troops on hand as the Army collapsed after WW1.

More detail coming soon!

thanks. I have invested in the Osprey book on this subject so before this is all said and done the unit strengths will be updated and the OOB will probably change. I will more than likely remove the armored cars from the Turk Cavalry units as they did not have many until late in the war. Matter of fact the Greeks didn't have many either.

after the first initial success with the Greeks capturing Smyrna, the Turks held up Greek forces from crossing into Asia for several turns. the Nationalist Turks are in dire straights as now the Greek winter offensive has begun with the arrival of the Greek 4th Cavalry Corps, and the Greek 1st and 2nd Corps finally breaking through into Turkey proper.

the Greeks now have 3rd, and 4th Corps which will make up the Army of Asia once this Army HQ becomes available sometime this year. the 1st and 2nd Corps which belong to the Army of Thessaly, now gives them 4 corps, while the Turks have the 20th corps or what's left of it fighting a rear guard action near the Turkish Capital, and the 15th Corps in the south. The Turkish 22nd corps was mobilized to deal with the Armenian front, but now due to circumstances, this corps has been placed into fortifications in front of the capital.

The Turks do not receive any major reinforcements until the summer of 1921. On the to do list, is decrease the PP gained from both sides as it is too many.

while reading information on this conflict, I came across information regarding Armenia. From 1918 to 1920 Armenia as a independent nation. During the Russian civil war after WW1, the Armenians declared independence. In December 1920 the Soviets invaded conquering Armenia. She would not be an independent nation again until after the fall of the Soviet Union.

During the Greek-Turkish war Armenia had an army of 40,000 men and participated in the fighting.

interesting war to say the least. I still need to tweak the weather though, but all seems running smooth. There will eventually be a AI version, just don't know if it will be an AI Greece or Turkey

This scenario is still being worked on. I need to revamp the way replacements are given and fix the map in regards to weather.

it is still being worked on. I decided to change the replacement amount as both sides were receiving way too much in the form of replacements.

I'm also redoing my Congo scenario, from scratch. Started over with a completely new map and units.

Wow. I had assumed real life had got in the way TBH. This is good news. May I ask what is happening with your Iran-Iraq design? It looks like you have removed it. I rather liked it TBH.

The Iran-Iraq war scenario is being completely reworked as well. This scenario will be finished before the greek-turkish war. Once I have completed the new Congo war one, I will continue with the Iran-Iraq war.
