Retreat from battle?

Post by JoonasTo »

Is there a way to retreat from an on-going battle?

In earlier titles moving units to your edge of the map would retreat them from the battlefield.
You could also retreat with a button and the units you had in safe positions would retreat, while the ones in contact would surrender.
Is there anything similar in this? Sometimes everything just goes horribly wrong and you want to save what you can for the future.

PS. Can units surrender? I’ve seen them flee, hide and panic but not surrender.

There does not appear to be a surrender mechanic. This leads to some quite hilarious encounters as melee combat appears to be disabled as well.

Assault teams will fight hand to hand in buildings etc

Yeah sure there is a melee animation and sound effect but they don't ever kill anything.

I’ve had many successful wins in clearing buildings

I've noticed in hand to hand it going on forever and no kills. Just be a bug

I've played a few battles recently where I had a number of squads in hand to hand combat, each lasting about no more than a couple of minutes and with a couple of deaths at least. Of course it's hard to have hand to hand combat when the enemy runs away from you!
