Drawing on the map

Post by Veitikka »

Here's something new.

A map marker can have an optional text label attached to it. Hold down the 'CTRL' key to draw lines. Clicking on a line removes it.

Would it be possible to go full Mil Std 2525 on this? I mean, the control measure symbols are basically nothing more than a collection of points and a label attached to it; thats not much of a difference to bland lines and map markers (well, you would have to draw those nice vector graphics...). Theres even some open source code out there.
I always wanted a game where I could use real tactical symbols instead of drawing just stoopid lines like my 2 year old niece. It adds a touch of professionalism to pushing around unit counters, even if I still remain an armchair Colonel.

But I take the line for now.[:)]

ignorant, even abnormally
stupid, but

More symbols can be added later, but having lines and text is quite a step forward. From the development point of view, it can be better to start with something simple, get some feedback, and then improve the system. To start with the idea that we must have a system that has everything can be paralyzing.
