RE: Import/Export Facilities DB

Post by cf_dallas »

I stumbled onto this website while researching a scenario, and it's a treasure trove of information.

http://www.ww2.dk/new/newindex.htm

It takes a bit of digging to put together the unit structure you're looking for, but it's good stuff. I decided to build together the entire Soviet PVO structure for 4 eras when "Cold War gone hot" was a pretty realistic concern:
- 1962 (Cuban Missile Crisis)
- 1968 (Prague Spring, US Vietnam involvement)
- 1975 (Fall of Vietnam, Northern Inferno)
- 1984 (Afghanistan, "Evil Empire", KAL007, Able Archer)

Getting through the entire PVO (it's freakin' massive) is going to take a while. Here's the first installment, the 1st Air Defense Army of the Moscow Air Defense District. I'm relatively confident in the locations of the 'shooters', the various HQ and radar units less so. And there wasn't any detail on this website about what radars were at what location, when. Basically... if there were questions I did a bit of google research, but I mostly went with what made sense to me. If you see something that's just flat wrong I'm certainly open to suggestions.

The unit names are pretty cumbersome in most cases, I used them to show the organization structure (ie "1st AD Army, 6th AD Corps, 606th AAM Regt").

I've only done 1962/68/75 (Cold War Database) for this round because the SA-1 isn't in the DB3K. I'll post a separate request for that in the DB thread.

These are awesome, thank you. Just wondering if the file with the Canadian bases in it could have CFB Cold Lake and Trenton added?

I wanted to do World Ports but i can't cause it seems the geosomething codesomething policy in google heart and similar had a change and so i can't use anymore KMZ to INST... that's a pain!. Anyone got something?
i mean, i got the data, but cannot translate it to Command cause of the different
UTC geolocation coordinates in use, compared to DMS if i'm not mistaking. used in Command.

Spanish Radar Network (EVAs).
All data gathered from public sources.

EVA means Aerial Surveillance Squadron in Spanish (Escuadrón de Vigilancia Aérea).

There are 3 different installations:

Radar network since 2005 (similar to 2013 but in EVA nº2 still with AN/FPS-113 + AN/FPS-90 combo.
Radar network since 2013 (actual configuration. 9 Indra Lanza 3D + 4 Alenia RAT-31SL/T
Radar Network (hypothetical). 2013 network plus two projected radar sites paralized by the Economical crisis.

SOSUS

The problem - the real radius of no more than 200 miles, bearing accuracy - 10 degrees?
Perhaps to make the sensor version CWDB with these properties?

North Warning System - Canada

North Warning System - Canada

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Warning_System

The NWS consists of both long range AN/FPS-117 and short range AN/FPS-124 surveillance radars, operated and maintained
by the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). The Alaska Regional Operations Control Center (ROCC) at Elmendorf AFB,
Alaska controls the stations in Alaska; the Canada East and Canada West Regional Operations Control Centres (ROCCs) at
CFB North Bay, Ontario control the stations in Canada. ROCC information is then passed to the NORAD Combat Operations Centre (COC)
at Colorado Springs, Colorado.

CFS Alert- Canada

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CFS_Alert

Canadian Forces Station Alert, also CFS Alert, is a Canadian Armed Forces signals intelligence
intercept facility located in Alert, Nunavut on the northeastern tip of Ellesmere Island.
Located in the Qikiqtaaluk Region, Nunavut, Canada, it is the northernmost permanently inhabited
place in the world. It takes its name from HMS Alert, which wintered 10 km (6.2 mi) east of
the present station off what is now Cape Sheridan, Nunavut in 1875-1876

Royal Canadian Navy and Air Force Bases (WITH assets added) and earlier NWS facilities

Post by cdnice »

Canadian Naval, Air Force bases and assets for scenario building. I have tried to be as accurate as possible but have taken some liberties with assets in order to facilitate scenario building (used some similar planes from other countries where they were missing for Canada or were missing a specific loadout for the platform). I am ignoring our governments shameful handling of the need to replace equipment and have made all four Iroquois class AAW destroyers active, delete if you want all ships are ported. I have also added a reserve fleet of older retired ships x2/subs x3/AOR x1.

I have tried to be accurate with the air assets but it was hard to nail down exactly how many of each unit was in what location.

Enjoy
