Is lay IED automatic success or a die roll?

Post by VonWulfen »

Hello all.
I have restarted Boot camp 2 as I failed on my first attempt.
I have prioritized laying IED,s this time but one of my Inf 67A units has now failed 4 times.
It consumes the 100 points but does not lay the IED,s.
The unit is not low on ammo, it is within command range, I have moved hex in case it was a problem with a particular hex, but still no success.
My other Inf units have all laid the IED,s on the first attempt.
So, Is lay IED automatic success or a die roll?
Cheers.

It is a die roll.

Although certain nations (and certain decades) are more proficient at it than others.

Many thanks, sir.
They eventually got the hang of it and managed to set some claymores in a dense jungle hex just as the VC made they’re first push. I will be having strong words with that squad if we survive the attack!

*laughs* That's good! Yay for being successful!

Don't forget that the units are typically platoons and the hexes are 250 metres across.
