That Starship Troopers the Movie is not faithful to Starship Troopers the Book is part of why it works so well as a satire - it shows you the flaws and cracks and contradictions of a military regime rather than reveling in it.
It is less obvious to those who haven't read the book, therefore american reviewers painting the movies as exaltation instead satire. Sequel movies make point more clear, but otherwise seem to be of lesser quality.

Serenity doesn't qualify as war movie. Neither does The Chronicles of Riddick.
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.
