Liberty or Death

Post by JeanUSARMYGUARD »

Have any of you remember playing Koei's Liberty or Death?

Its surprising no one has yet come up with a modern day Liberty or Death title.

It doesn't make any sense, Admiral. Were we better than the Japanese or just luckier?

I bought it new about 1993. I played it, but it's been so long ago I've forgotten what it was like. [&:]

Was that the one with point to point movement?  Each turn representing a week?

If a title like this returns to the market... with todays functionability and graphics design... it would be a sure fire hit.

I played it through abt a year ago - very fun and challenging if you can get over the date graphics. You can find it from abandonia.

Thanks for the link... brought back some old memories.

I just cant believe that no developer or publisher has yet to make a sequel to Liberty or Death. The game was amazing... combining Strategic and Tactical level of gameplay, as well as providing historical education.

AGEOD's Birth of America was a good game... Historical Accuracy was great, as well as gameplay design, however the map is too cluttered with too much animation. The game is also without a tactical system.

A few other factors prevented me from purchasing the title:

- I enjoy to be able to view Troop Strength of Army Units. Example Northern Continental Army : 3456 Troops

- I noticied a serious drag in the games FPS (Frames Per Second) in Birth of America - Demo

I have yet to play For Liberty, by Matrix Games... I plan to play the demo in the coming days.

Liberty Or Death is a wonderful wargame. A lot of educating contents, great historical acuracy and brillant gameplay make it one of most significant wargames from KOEI. Now it is available on any site with old games, I recommend GamesWin for downloading all games of KOEI, among many old wargames.

I went to Gameswin, not many games under the strategy section. I noticed reach for the stars, http://www.gameswin.org/gamesen.php?id=2131

U need an emulator? What's the best again?

I found the games

Doesn't look as fancy as Master of Orion [8|]
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

Greetings All,
Still have the super nes version, from what I remember about this game, it’s next to impossible to defeat the English, unless you get lucky and the French and Spanish come in early on the American side.
