Slitherine links with Games Workshop on new licensing agree
Slitherine and Games Workshop, two giants in their respective specialist markets, have signed a deal to produce a strategy video game set in the popular Warhammer® 40,000® universe.
"This deal represents yet another testament to our continuous aim to reach new audiences, without losing sight of who we are and what we do best", said JD McNeil, Chairman of the Slitherine Group. "It's all about creating strategy games that are targeted to a particular audience and addressing a very specific need in the market. The Warhammer 40,000 setting is a perfect fit for the style of strategy games that we make and will be very popular with fantasy and science fiction fans alike. Joining forces with Games Workshop will allow us to bring an wonderfully deep and appropriate IP to the Turn Based Strategy genre”.
Details of the deal including the content and features of the game have not yet been announced, but development is already underway on multiple platforms, involving the best talents in design and development available to the Slitherine Group.
Jon Gillard, Head of Licensing at Games Workshop said: “Slitherine are clearly established and successful masters of their genre of games, and there are many fans of their work here at GW. It’s a pleasure to work with such like minded individuals who share our passion for strategy games of all types”.

YES! I am so happy about this. My sons and I have enjoyed Warhammer for many moons.

Welp, all the best of luck with it. I'll defer judgment until I know more.

I've played some Warhammer. Have a few of the titles still. Not my kind of game anymore but they are good for RTS games.

Please Dear god make it along the same as the tabletop game..tactical..but wego or turn based..buy and paint your own armies (paint through a progam in game software).
DON'T do an RTS for godsake.
Lets get WH40K to it's roots on the PC.
This is a fantastic opportunity to get a PC game similar to the tabletop game but animated and using all the PC power to make it into a superb experience.
I'd be bitterly disappointed if this goes either an Ipad mobile game only or some rts. I've thought for awhile now tabletop games are prime for PC conversion as the market out there is huge and yet untapped. No game has taken these tabletop games and made them like the tabletop game for years..last that came close where games like Chaos gate. You make the games like the tabletop version..and give the players a chance to customise the look of their soldiers and paint them etc..or onto a winner.

I would not mind seeing this go in the direction of, or similar to the Field of Glory series. Adpat the new engine to Warhammer.
You buy the basic game with different types of units and create armies just like FOG, expansions would be new armies and units, pretty simple.
We are a tactical bunch here and enjoy depth of play, not a twitch, zerg like RTS game...unless its Orcs zerging on space marines

It will be turn based and use our PBEM++ system. It will not be any form of RTS!

As long as the PC shows it's strengths over Ipad..also I'd rather play on a screen I can see...

Personally, I'd like to see a Battlefleet Gothic game. We've seen so many variations on the basic tabletop 40K game (some good, some bad), but not this one.

Would be very cool indeed..you never know Slitherine could I'm sure look into other GW titles.. I see BG asked for alot for a PC conversion.

UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Not that hideous beast!!? GW's legendary sense of humor has its moments in spite of their cash-cow "warhammer" scam!

Germany's unforgivable crime before the Second World War was her attempt to extricate her economy from the world's trading system and to create her own exchange mechanism which would deny world finance its opportunity to profit.
