Re: An Observation, Total Aircraft numbers.

There are half a dozen options, but in Autumn, Winter 1943 you do not have enough long range fighters to achieve them. So it plug away, try to create attrition and keep your points rising until the P51 & longer ranged P47 arrive, plus 15AF can start hitting those Southern Germany and Austrian Ai...

Re: An Observation, Total Aircraft numbers.

Thanks Guys, I have been mulling over this for a few weeks, and as I typed the thread thought of the answer.

So now the plan is to kill aircraft in the air and on the ground!

An Observation, Total Aircraft numbers.

Gday, I'm a numbers man and in lieu of having a "Tracker" type program I capture the daily numbers from the Campaign Summary. Firstly, I assume they are accurate and not subject to Fog of War. Playing the latest patches through 50ish days I have found many occasions where the Total Aircraf...

Re: Some Observations on the Current Game with New Patch

1. But it could be that the engine allocates fewer RAF types to a combat and they get overwhelmed, or at least are less effective. 2. But why are they fixed whereas the USAAF type are optional. It could affect range, climbing speed and maneuverability until AFTER the 109s or 190s bounce you. 3. But ...

Re: Some Observations on the Current Game with New Patch

Some thought about Spitfire, and RAF fighters in general. 1. RAF squadrons are smaller than the USAAF units, does the Combat system put them at a disadvantage?? 2. Many RAF Fighters, including the IX and XIV seem to have "fixed" bombs and Slipper Tanks. The USAAF fights have an option to c...

IMVHO, the range shown doesnt include forming up, climbing to altitude etc plus I feel that some types of fighters escort some types of bombers better, for example my B26B get slaughtered!

Re: BTR: Typhoons missing rocket loadout? (and other 2nd TAF OOB suggestions)

Do rockets have any characteristics such as being fired outside of LAA range etc? 2TAF had distinctive Bomb or Rocket equipped squadrons which allowed experience and skill to build in the relevant field. By D-Day 2TAF had 11 Rocket and 7 Bomb equipped Typhoon Squadrons. Wiki says The top speed of th...

Re: 15 ship TF optimum for flak

As being said, after 15 ships, there is diminishing return. That does not mean flak would somehow lessen, just that additional ships don't contribute all their flak. But they still add up. I always fill CV TF to max 25 ships. There is bit of downside in this, though...you increase chances of collis...

You also have to hit Bremen & the other UBoat pens in that area, I also believe that hitting the UBoat factories helps. Dont be afraid to use Bomber Command as well/.

Norfolk Island is overated at (0), there still isnt a port and the slightest seas makes portage awkward.
The airfield was made by cutting the top off a hill and demolishing some beautiful trees.
A lovely place to visit.

Re: Me 410B-2/U4 vs Me 410B-2/U2

Possibly lugging around a 500kg weapon pack plus ammo wasnt good for performance, anyway it was to attack bombers outside fighter cover (which grew less and less as the weeks went by) The low ratings might also reflect the low ammo load, 21 rounds isnt going to last long (This is a Gary Grigsby comm...

Put a substantial force in Port Blair to protect your LOC.

I'd give it a bash, but using those forces results in them not being in the SWPA.

Re: Baltimore V - utterly ridiculous

Commonwealth pilots used the Baltimore and its predecessor Martin Maryland aggressively against the lower powered Italian aircraft, with a top speed over 300 mph it was useful and if a pilot though a head on attack was the way to go they could find up to 8 x .303 or 4 .303 and 2 x 50cal shooting back.

Re: Baltimore V - utterly ridiculous

I use the Baltimore heavily in 1943 & early 44 and have never seen them do anything like you describe. How about some numbers or screen shots. It is faster than B25 & B26, slower than A20, less maneuverable than all but good durability. Far from having only 2 x 50 cal it had either 2 x 50cal...
