RE: Impact of minor rivers?

<t> Units can usually only achieve long marches in friendly territory and assume that, away from the front line, some sort of motorised transport can be organised to speed things along, even if the unit doesn't have organic transport.<br/> <br/> As for fighting every day, the bullet system ensures t...

RE: Anybody win with the Russian ?

<t> Interesting thread, I can't wait to see the outcome of the AAR. One thing I would say is that it would be hard to draw definite conclusions on some issues until a few games have been played.<br/> <br/> On the question of Soviet Artillery, they are restricted to one shot per hex precisely to simu...

RE: variants in ATD2 scenario

<t> You guys are gamers, and pretty hard core ones at that, so designing a system of any complexity that completely eliminates gamey tactics is more or less impossible.<br/> <br/> In our view, the AO system has a number of compelling benefits which deserve to be listed against any possible problems....

RE: ATD2 Soviet AAR - no Squatter

<t> The Germans are really only lethal when attacking in open terrain with favourable tactical shifts. They have a lot less fun in the forest and none at all in swamps.<br/> <br/> As the Russians, one approach is as follows:<br/> <br/> Defend in depth on open lines of approach, doing everything poss...

As far as I know this is the only instance of this problem. We're looking at it now.

Adam,

Thanks for asking after Ian, he is much better. We've had some brand new fetters made, dosed him with castor oil, told him not get sick again and pressed him back into service all as part of our compassionate company healthcare plan.

RE: Price

<t> Just on the comments about Peter Carr's scenario, I would like to make a few things clear. We deliberately included all the free scenarios, our Husky, Pete's Konrad and Chris Merchant's Kirovgrad with the patch to Kharkov and not with the ATD II product, even though including them would have mad...

RE: CRT Tables

<t> The difference you left out was the Indirect Fire modifier, which makes a huge difference. It certainly wasn't laziness but a considered design decision. The ultimate test is how the scenario plays, and although people did comment on the CRT question when Kharkov first came out, as far as I know...

RE: Price aside...

On the OB question, Ian says that OB research gets easier every year because of the amount of OB material that you can now find on the net. Of course he still has thousands of books, but net resources do make life much easier for the scenario creator.

<t> Please don't blame Eric or Matrix for the confusion about the discount for owners of the original ATD. It was our intention to do this, and when I made those comments it was my understanding that it would be possible. It turns out not to be the case, simply because the original ATD was released ...
