No, I found that location earlier, nothing will download from there now.

Re: We've Fixed the Artillery Screen - Guaranteed!!!!

I know I'm late to this thread, but I just got a new copy of Steel Panthers that would run on my more modern computer and found the "can't get artillery to work" bug and went looking for a patch. Found this thread but the patch isn't available any longer. Any chance I can get a copy of it ...

RE: Intercepting Fleets, how to

<t> I almost never use directional search arcs on my ship based FP's. They are too scarce and too short ranged to cover much, so I just leave them on 360 and rely on land based naval search. Even a B-25 or A-20 squadron on naval search is better than 2 or 3 floatplanes. Now, if my CV's are out raidi...

RE: Stuff I still dont know

The 20k supply limit isn't absolute, then. As I mentioned earlier, Horn Island and Cairns are both well below 20k and I can withdraw/disband units there without penalty. Horn is also a level 2 airbase with 500 supply, while Koumac is a level 8 with 11k supply.

RE: Intercepting Fleets, how to

<t> Open ocean intercepts aren't easy to accomplish. When I see a TF headed towards one of my bases (such as Canton Island), I send a surface TF group towards it on an opposite bearing with a "return to base" setting, 1 hex reaction and the home base as Canton itself. That way if they miss the inter...

RE: Stuff I still dont know

<t> My base at Koumac is a level 8 airbase with 11,000 supply points and adequate airbase support. All the air units have their withdraw and disband commands in red. Akyab has 7300 supply points and the air units there also have red withdraw/disband labels. I have other bases with less supply that d...

RE: Loss of Combat Animation

It's set up like this: "C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -SingleCpuOrders -multiaudio -dd_sw -px1366 -py768

Previous to tonight the animations were there, and I've always used these settings.

Loss of Combat Animation

This evening my combat animations all vanished. No bomb or torpedo hits shown on any screen, no explosions, nothing. Sound is ok, the combat screens appear, just no animation. I've tried leaving the game and returning, no luck. Anyone seen this? I'm playing Scenario 2.

Sudden loss of combat animations

<t> I'm playing Scenario 2 and the date is 7/42. This evening all the animations are gone in the combat scenes. The scene appears, but torpedoes that hit from subs don't show up on the screen, explosions don't appear during naval combats or on air raids, etc. The sound is there, but no animation. I'...

RE: Night surface engagement. No matador_spa

You're better off leaving the "R" class BB's at home early in the war. The RN cruisers and destroyers together can fight even at night on even terms with the IJN, but the BB's are just too big and slow.

Red Airbases

<t> I'm playing a campaign, mid-1942 as the Allies. Two of my airbases, Koumac and Akyab, are showing up as red and I cannot withdraw or disband the air units there. Akyab I can understand, I guess; there's a nuisance Japanese land unit there that I cannot dislodge, but the nearest enemy land unit t...

RE: Shell hits on Yamato ( just curious)

<t> Yamato has a virtual army's worth of guns; 18", 6.1", 5" and the antiaircraft guns as well, all which will engage a surface target depending on the range. USS Concord getting hit by Yamato doesn't mean they were all 18" hits; given the fight was at night and short range, most of the hits were pr...

RE: Long range late war IJN carrier raids

<t> I've seen the AI send lone IJN CV's between Pearl Harbor and the West Coast. One time it sent Junyo and another time it was Soryu. Both times the CV's had only one escort, and fortunately they passed close enough to the north of Hawaii that my LR patrols detected them. I had multiple carriers fi...

Updates to Battleground Series?

I've got nearly all the Battleground: Civil War games but they will not install on my Windows 7 64 bit computer now. Is there a patch or mod that will allow this?

Also, will the one currently being for sale on the store (with all the bundled games) install on the above platform?

RE: LCU fragments while unloading

Or you can go unload the fragment in a larger port, and then load it into a larger amphib TF. If you spread the unit around more (and smaller) ships, they'll unload faster even in smaller ports.

RE: Submarine operations - the first year

<t> It's late 1943 in my current CG and the IJN's subs have very nearly vanished from the ocean. I've seen a few in the Indian Ocean but that's about it. One of the worst chokepoints for the Japanese is south of the PI; I have all my remaining Dutch and S-boats operating out of Darwin and they have ...

RE: Submarine operations - the first year

The water around the DEI is shallow; that's probably why the Dutch subs are being spotted so often. I try and keep my subs out of shallow water since they are much more vulnerable there than in deeper depths, but some times that's just not an option.

RE: 19th Jan 1943

<t> Both US BB's have armor heavy enough to stand up against the IJN BB's 14" guns, and have guns that can punch the armor of their counterparts at nearly any range. Their weakness is speed; the IJN TF can disengage at will, or dictate the range. I'm figuring it turned into a Long Lance vs gunfire d...
