Re: Minor countries like Switzerland/Austria

I tried to work on an Austrian DB for Red Storm years ago (2015). I am Austrian, as you probably guess. I know the OOB, even some TOEs (though there is basically no reference material on this), and even some operational planning. I would be happy to help out, but professional commitments prevent me ...

Re: Flashpoint Campaigns: Southern Storm Coming Soon

Considering that you are not exactly creating Starfield, wouldn't Unity be a useful off-the-shelf option? This puzzles me with most wargames. People are still fiddling around with custom code from ages ago. And I also play Tiller (or WDS, nowadays) games, where changes like new shortcuts or a new co...

<r> I finally edited the first post to include all the imagery. RE: An auto-mapper for TOAW

<r> <QUOTE><s>
</s>This looks good. Am I right in saying that the program is actually looking at how rugged the terrain is, rather than simply using elevation to determine what's a hill? If so that's exceptional.<e>
</e></QUOTE> <br/> I am using the median of the slope (1st derivative)....

An auto-mapper for TOAW

RE: How large should I make my game?

Just as a funny comparison, the attack width of a MRR against a defending (prepared) enemy is between 3 and 8 kms. In the 15x15 kms maps you could in principle fit a complete MRD in. Thats a whole lot of firepower. Overcrowding is the way to go!

RE: Drawing on the map

<t> Would it be possible to go full Mil Std 2525 on this? I mean, the control measure symbols are basically nothing more than a collection of points and a label attached to it; thats not much of a difference to bland lines and map markers (well, you would have to draw those nice vector graphics...)....

RE: Austria-Hungary (no, not that one)

Fair enough. I guess I will have to do it myself, but not in the immediate future.

And kudos for the Kaiser. There is still a bronze bust of him at my faculty which I walk by every day. Yes, our glory days, both military as well as scientific, are long gone by...

Austria-Hungary (no, not that one)

<r> I think it is pretty obvious that we are down the Wargame (you know, the Eugen game) road. This would mean that at some point we will end up with their country roster (at least for Europe). Fair enough. Canada, Czechoslovakia, the Dutch, the Norwegians, probably the Danes.<br/> <br/> Now, I was ...

RE: The Poor Man's Mod Guide 4

Does this file still exist on some remote hard drive or was it extinguished when the great meteor hit the website?

Thought I would give my modding efforts another spin and realised that I deleted the file.
