RE: Demoting generals?

<t> Will this really cancel the ill-effects of the "Quickly angered" ability?<br/> An HQ unit, according to the tool-tip, just gives a +1 bonus to command points, while the "Quickly angered" ability gives -4 to command points.<br/> Or do you mean that it will make it possible to demote him to 2 star...

Demoting generals?

I promoted Stonewall to 3 stars - should never have done that!
He's now got the "Quickly angered" ability which makes him useless as a stack commander.
Is there any way to demote him to 2 stars again?
Or do I have to do without him from now on?

RE: HQ Support?

Would love to hear an answer to the OP's question about whether the HQ unit cancels oout other support units.
Would I still benfit from having a Medical or Signal corps unit in my stack - if there is already an HQ support?

What are the coloured bars on map unit counters?

Hi

Does anybody know exactly what the bars on the unit counters on the map shows?
Can't find anything about it in the manual.
I'm talking about the counters you see on the map, denoting units and armies.

Air units during 1st winter?

How do you guys handle air units during the first winter?
Do they suffer the same as other units?
In that case, I was wondering whether I should just pull them back and leave my infantry without air support for the whole blizzard...

<r> Sigh, well so Denmark is out.<br/> It's okay - Germany was the better team - I think they will go all the way this year.<br/> But I still think it wouldn't have been completely unfair if we had grabbed the second quarter-final spot from Portugal. <E>:-)</E><br/> Complete disaster for Holland - s...

<r> Ok, joining this discussion at a late stage, I know, but I need some moral support here...<br/> We (Denmark) are playing against Germany (!!!) tonight in the last round of Death-Group B.<br/> In all probability we need a win to go through - but if we do, it should be smooth sailing right to the ...

RE: Why does movement cost differ from unit to unit/turn to turn?

Yes, Walloc has it spot on. Thanks!
It does seem to happen less frequently with high-morale units, so that must be it.
I just have to keep my units' morale high then.
Any other ways than winning battles?

Why does movement cost differ from unit to unit/turn to turn?

<t> I've noticed that my panzer divs have different movement costs.<br/> Some turns they pay 2 points per clear hex they move, some turns 3 (not talking about terrain differences, of course).<br/> Is there some initiative roll or something made every turn that decides this?<br/> It can't be a leader...

RE: Any point in encircling routed units?

<t> Oh, that's a bit different than I thought.<br/> So I should just treat routed units the exact same way as normal units with regards to encircling?:<br/> First turn: Encircle and pray the circle holds through the enemy turn (I assume routed units cannot break loose on their own - unless some dice...

Any point in encircling routed units?

Just want to make sure - there's no point in encircling routed units, right?
They'll slip away no matter what I do...?

Any point in going for Riga on turn 1 after 1.05?

Just read the patch notes that after 1.05 it is not possible to use a captured port untill the next turn.
So would you experts out there still find it worthwhile to do the Riga Gambit even though you can't use the port right away?

No "Units out of command" overlay?

<t> Having learned how important it is for units to be in range of their corps HQ in this game, I spend a significant amount of time each turn checking for this.<br/> I use the commanders report or click from corps HQ to corps HQ on the map to check for this - but both methods are quite time-consumi...
