Indomitable arriving late? Probably an OOB error. I got to the RN rather late as I missed about 6-8 months dev time for health reasons. Probably going to find alot more as I play with the naval OOBs and dbases for a possible Med game.
Yes Sir.... very late, take a look as it is ( in my version of Scn#15 anyway ) the Indomitable wouldnt be there for the Indian ocean raids.
The RN should withdraw one carrier from the IO in July 42 for Pedastal (Malta resupply convoy)
Good luck on the RN OOB for Bomb alley or whatever, you think they were adding & subtracting units there ! wait till you see how force H varies !
He he do you think bomb alley will let us bombard the french at Mers el Kebir ....?
It is really just preliminary stuff...no guarantee it will be a go ahead project. Force H variation will most likely necessitate a design change for force arrivals/departures. Force H should also have limited windows of Med availability as it was a force multiplyer for both Atlantic and Med. Possibly a minimum force level must be maintained for Force H as well.
Other things like UBoat entry into Med. Should not just arrive in an Axis port. Should be forced to run the Gibralter Strait.

I think this could be easily abstracted with a simple die roll prior to deployment of each UBoat to determine wether it made it through the strait or not. The odds would go up or down depending on how many ASW assets were in the Gibralter Hex.
This may be more a production issue, but since someone already brought out that the TOE for these units is wrong, I'll post it here.
The 254th and 255th Indian Tank Brigades that begin in scenario #15, and the 7th Armored Tank Brigade that arrives on 13 February use Grants as their primary tank. The Allies are not set to produce Grants at the beginning of the scenario.
In this case I believe the production is correct and its rather a oob issue since the 7th Armored should not enter the game with ANY Grants, just M3 "Honeys" (Stuarts). However it would be OK for the Honeys to upgrade to Grants at a later date.
Don't remember which class it is, but the US DMS that has 3 5"/38 Mk 12 DP mounts uses the graphic of the flush decker DMS, when in reality it should use a modified Benson Graphic. These DMSs (famous for playing the USS Caine in the Caine Mutiny) were converted from Benson and Gleaves class DDs, by landing No. 3 and 5 gunhouses and all TT.
In addition, at the start of the war all Bensons should have 5 5"/38 Mk 12, not 4. Bensons (not Gleaves/Livermore/Bristol) Didn't land their No. 3 gunhouse till mid 1942/1943. The Bristols WERE As built with 4 5"/38s, but Bensons had 5.

OK, here's a preliminary on the bases that the US actually had in the Pacific in Dec. 1941. The map has far too many bases, airfields etc. on the islands of the Pacific.
Of course, those in the Hawaiian Islands, though as I've indicated before, there should be 562'000 fuel points (=562'000 tons).
Midway is fine as modeled in the game.
Wake is fine as modeled in the game.
Johnston Island had oil tanking capacity of about 16'000 barrels = about 2200 tons. The airstrip was 4000 ft. by 500 ft (good enough for fighters/FB/Light Bombers). Gasoline storage of 5 times 25'000 gallons.
Palmyra had two airstrips, on 5000 ft. by 300 ft. and one 3700 ft. by 200 ft.
Canton Island had an Army Air Force base (sorry, no details yet).
There was only a tiny naval station in Samoa.
Efate had a few Australian troops and a seaplane base, no airstrip.
Pago-Pago had a small refueling station and a communications center. The Marines arrived in January and there was no airfield until one was operational in April 1942, dimensions 2500 ft. by 250 ft. (good only for fighters).
Upolu had nothing at all.
Wallis was unoccupied till late May 1942. It had nothing at all.
Fiji had 10'000 New Zealanders based on it on Dec. 7th. Suva was a port of call for merchantmen and had extensive repair facilities for seaplanes. Nandi airfield was fairly large as it had two 7000 ft. airstrips. Narewa had two 5000 ft. airstrips. Nausori had one 3600 ft. airstrip. No Americans until 1942.
Noumea had meager servicing facilities and no airfield whatsoever.
Funafuti, Nanomea, and Nukufetau were empty.
Gili-Gili (Milne Bay) was empty.
Maikin, Tarawa etc. were all empty, nothing there at all.
As I've said time and time again, there are far too many island bases that already have airstrips or ports (and fuel and supplies) on Dec. 7th in the game. Other than the ones mentioned above that had existing facilities, all the rest should simply be green dots.

Does it say how big the base in the Admiralty Islands became?

Long section on the bases that were built during the war. Nice pictures too.

The important thing to note is that the Benson's which first deployed to the Pacific had mount 5/3 removed. Look at the deployment dates and you will realize that these units were now 4 gun Bensons. Most even still shipped 2.50 cal MGs. Many of the Atlantic based units kept their fifth mount a little while longer.
Correct about Ellyson class DMS should show Benson DD graphic, not the Dorsey class DMS graphic.

I've been looking for these books for a while. Thanks for the post.[:)]

1:Islands' wrong name
EtorofO JIMA = EtofU TOU
Kunashiri JIMA = Kunashiri TOU
These islands are not JIMA but TOU.
2:Ship class
Chidori & Ootori class are suitable for DE class rather than DD because they are too small for DD class. Maybe PC is much suitable? Not good idea?
3:Japanese ARMY ships
AKITSUMARU, NIGITSUMARU, KUMANOMARU, TOKITSUMARU(they are AKITSUMARU class) & YAMASHIOMARU(CVE) are Japanese ARMY's ships, not NAVY. Almost of them have a flash deck like a CVE for ARMY's plane. Can reflect such benefits on the game?
4:SHINSYUMARU
She is also a Jap.Army's ship. Not just a AP class ship. Just like a LSD.She could carry 6 fighters, 6 bombers, 26 Daihatsu, 10 Chuhatsu & 20 Shouhatsu.
5:AIKOKUMARU, HOUKOKUMARU class
Thay are used as AP/AK at the end of war. However at the begining, they're armed and used like a PG/PC class in Indian Ocean and they got very nice score.
6:SS TEI class
Just like a Japanese LST.
7:MAMIYA, KASHINO class
MAMIYA carried foods/water for ship crews. KASHINO was made for YAMATO class's 46cm gun carrier. If YAMATO class got a damage on its 46cm gun, KASHINO helps to recover faster.
8:FRANCES P1Y1(GINGA)
Not onlya level bomb but also it could dive bomb.
9:GEORGE N1K1-J & N1K2-J(SHIDEN & SHIDEN KAI)
N1K1 & N1K2 are totally different plane. In the game, name is N1K1 but graphic is N1K2. And 343rd Kokutai(ace pilots special team) was known as armed with N1K2-J(SHIDEN KAI). SABURO SAKAI & KANEYOSHI MUTOU was not in the 343rd Kokutai in the same time. They were switched in the same time. SAKAI moved to YOKOSUKA Kokutai when MUTO came to 343rd Kokutai from YOKOSUKA Kokutai.
10:GERMAN & ITALIAN SUBMARINES.
Lots of German submarines and few Italian subs came to Medan. And they got nice score in Indian ocean. This is very important for pacific war[;)]
Maybe I got many mistakes(historically & gramatically) but please don't mind. Appreciate if other more Japanese specialists suggests nice ideas.
Japanese wargamer. Will post from "the other side" .
Scenario 8 "The First Year" is described as having production turned "off" in the games scenario information screen, but when examined with the scenario editor, it's turned "on."
