Weather for the night bombing

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Weather for the night bombing

Post by Barbos2 »

In reality the outcome of any night bombing raid (damage to targets/losses) strongly depended on weather: moon phase, density/altitude of clouds etc. Please explain how it is realized in the game. Which weather is ideal to launch a raid, hit the target and avoid heavy losses? Is it better to hide from interceptors in high or low clouds?

staying concealed is the key. Don't make it obvious to the LW where you are heading, because they will be waiting for you with searchlights on.
You may start seeing excessive losses if you fly in moonlight.
Try not to fly over big cities where you can get coned by searchlights. Flak and NF's will find you easier. If you fly under clouds Flak can see your shadows against the clouds and spot you easier.
Flying inside the clouds is safest, but you rarely have the luxury to do this all the way to the target. Learn what your ECM devices do for you (see "pointers from the web" document). in some cases you can bomb through cloud cover with some success.
