Aircraft at Tyndall

Post by Gunner98 »

A good article in its own right, but for any that still hold to the desire of 100% ready squadrons of aircraft or lightning fast turn around times should take a look.

How about something more recent: Homestead AFB after Hurricane Andrew

Out of curiosity, are hardened shelters hurricane proof?

From winds and debris absolutely however i suspect they could still flood. The structures damaged in the image are normal hangars and those big flat metal roofs are easy for hurricanes to pull away.

As it is Tyndall is not to my knowledge a hardened base as it was never considered a priority nuclear target and the only nation able to attack it during the cold war would be Cuba and after 63' there just wasn't much of a threat there.
