The veterans marching- number 15- was just beaten by number 14 a reality show about couples who want a change .
Of course it could never compete with number 3 - a cooking show.
or even number 5 - a singing show :)

Maybe I`m getting old.
but I know I never had to serve due to those who did .
THANK YOU

Wednesday, April 25, 2018: ANZAC Day.

To our friends overseas ...

And to their fathers and grand fathers who fought and died for Liberty!

Of course, Rico.
They are the first on the spot, and they have always made it very well known.
Like Jonah Lomu, and Lilian Thuram in another style.

Another ANZAC day has passed :)
The legend of the ANZAC`s was made on the cliffs of Gallipoli.
The attitude of `bugger, that`s a big hill ,let`s have a go at it ' made it legendary ,

The eldest of 12 children, Alfred John Henry Lovett was one of the Gunditjmara people from Victoria’s
western districts. While Australia was in the midst of the Gallipoli campaign, 35-year-old Alfred
joined the rush of young men eager to enlist in the Australian Imperial Force. Four of his brothers
followed in his footsteps.

In October 1915, Alfred farewelled his wife and two sons and embarked aboard HMAT Ulysses for the Western Front.
A jockey by trade, Alfred proceeded to France where he was taken on strength by the 12th Battalion.
soon after he arrived, Alfred was involved in the battle of Pozières, where the AIF sustained as many casualties
in six weeks as they had in the entire Gallipoli campaign. Australia’s official historian, Charles Bean,
wrote that it was “a ridge more densely sown with Australian sacrifice than any other place on earth”.

While on active service Alfred suffered from mumps, influenza, and bronchitis, and after nearly two years
he was declared medically unfit and returned to Australia.

Alfred was the first of 21 Lovett family members to serve Australia in war and peacekeeping operations
since the First World War. Lovett Tower in Canberra was named in honour of the family’s generations of service.

That is what ANZAC day is about.
Not who or where you come from , but what you believe in fighting for :)
