Crash after smoke has been laid

Post by SwampYankee68 »

Howdy fellas. A new issue...

I'm playing a classic PBEM game "Eyes Ears & Teeth". For the last few turns, when my opponent calls a smoke mission, I get an error message during playback and the playback freezes... The error is "Stream Read Error".. And although there is an "OK" button, when I click it the replay stays frozen. The only way around it is to exit the game, re-load the turn and fast-forward through the replay entirely... Version 2.09

Ouch, that sounds painful. I can look at it if you can share a save game or pbm file with me that illustrates the problem.

As it happens we are testing PBEM again a lot right now. We haven't seen this problem (yet) but I would like to swat it as soon as possible.

Thanks, Rob

OK, Cap. I had your email from when I sent you the turn related to the dubious attack helo pilot AI... (Same game, actually).

I emailed you my turn, which was crashing (#26) and the one I sent out before that (#25) and a third save file that I think is related to a game killing crash during the replay after I entered my orders on turn 26... That one locked up during the replay of my orders, and the game would not progress. Had to use Task Manager to kill it. I do not think a smoke mission was involved, as I had not called for one.

I've never had these issues in PBEM++, FWIW

Thank you for the ongoing support.

Captain, I had the problem in a PBEM ++ game. I deleted my intsll, then re-installed it and I am no longer having that problem. Perhaps my install got corrupted. I did have a few graphical mods installed.

We will still check it out. There are updates and OS changes that appear and cause all sorts of challenges for us.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!
