Apocalypse: World War I

Post by decaro »

Has anyone else seen this 2014 documentary on WW I?

Although the narrator could have had more gravitas, I found this doc to be very informative, e.g., why the French chose "horizon blue" for their uniforms, or why the Triple Entente tried to retake Passchendaele, Belgium, which was well-defended by the Germans.

Yes I watched it in it's entirety when it first aired. I loved it. It was well narrated, well researched, and well worth the time to watch it. It was everything I had expected the History Channels flop The World Wars to be.

Apocalypse: World War I played all day yesterday on the AHC channel till sometime last night. It's one of the best documentary series done in years, might add it's release is well timed too...[;)]

I've seen parts of it a couple of times. Very good show. DVR it and blast through the effin commercials and it might be the best war documentary in 5 or 10 years.
History began July 4th, 1776. Anything before that was a mistake.
