Pole - Fastest Lap and the race win. That is a decent start, now on to Bahrain [:)]

My advice is err, don't get too excited... In the end this is like the football aphorism: "Football is a simple game; 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans always win...".

And just for the record, Vettel is indeed German too!

Not that I support Vettel, I don't (Webber seemed a nice guy though, and he got stick from his own young team-mate). Red Bull is simply hegemonic. Lewis will soon feel the breathing of Vettel on his neck [:(]

I wish I was wrong but...

With the bad luck that seems to accompany Lewis and the fortune that accompanies Vettel there is no chance of me getting too excited....

Don't get me wrong, it is almost certain that Vettel is one of the greats (although he still needs to beat a proven team mate to put that doubt to bed) but boy is he lucky.

I know it's wrong, but I kinda like Vettel. He reminds me a little of me when I was younger, except I didn't drive race cars.

Great driving Lewis! [&o] And Rosberg and Perez too.

I know Vettel had problems, but even so, Ricciardo is proving something of a surprise.

First time this year I watched a race, at least partly. Last things I saw was the duel between Hamilton and Rosberg for 1st place, and then Rosberg going to the pits.

The sound of the cars is something I need to get used to.

Bummer that Alonso has Raikkonen firmly under control, but that doesn't really matter since Ferrari is where it used to be - waaay behind [:D]

Red Bull? Doubt they will catch up. As far as I know it's the engine, so nothing where Newry can do a thing. Will be interesting how Vettel will cope with the new situation of being not in the best car - in the pre-race interview on local TV he seemd rather pissed off a bit. He will have to learn.

Let's see how it developes.

I don't normally follow Grand Prix but I got a chance to go to the 40th Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach this weekend. Watching the offroad trucks three-wheeling around the Tekate turn was a blast. Good time!

Congrats to Hamilton, about time in his career to be once again in a car which can win races. Ricciardo finished again in front of Vettel - Marko will find something to remedy this [8|]

Raikkonen nowhere near his performance of last year. Alonso again able to squeeze some good result out of his Ferrari - in such a bad team there's nothing more he can do. Suspect both Alonso and Raikkonen are wasting their time with the "legend".

Been watching the series of programs marking the 20th anniversary of that tragic weekend at Imola in 1994

RIP Ayrton Senna
RIP Roland Ratzenberger

Very sad.......[:(]

Yes it was a tragic weekend.

What I find very sad is, that most people don't remember Roland Ratzenberger. They only remeber Senna dying that weekend.

Martin Brundle said in hindsight, that it was tragic that the stewards let the race continue, after Senna's crash. They could see the blood on the circuit.

Sad, but that is life isn't it? Ayrton Senna was one of those sportsmen who was bigger than just his sport - like Pele or Muhammed Ali. Many people who don't follow motor racing know about him and when he died.

Ratzenberger was, and absolutely no disrespect meant whatsoever, just another racing driver. Who - outside of true F1 fans - remembers Ricardo Paletti (Montreal 1982) or Mark Donohue (Zeltweg 1975) or Tom Pryce (Kyalami 1977) to name just three?

I think David Brabham (Roland's teammate at Simtek that year) said it best. It was because he died THAT weekend, that Ratzenberger is remembered more than he otherwise would have been. Some consolation perhaps?

As warspite writes, that's the way it is....

Senna was the star in F1 when he died - Ratzenberger was a F1 rookie, who, in his first (and only) F1 season, didn't qualify in race 1, finished 11th in the 2nd race, and who died during training for the 3rd race of the year. And this in his 2nd lap. Which makes the GP of Japan (Aida, 2nd race) his only F1 race in his whole career.

Ratzenberger was also a totally unknown sportsman in his home country Austria, except a few who are into Formula 3000 or into touring car races.

Finished watching the series of Senna programs last night and then watched the Senna movie again afterwards. The best of these programs was a discussion between two top motor sport journalists - David Tremayne and Maurice Hamilton, and the former commentator Murray Walker. Their views were interesting, honest and totally lacking in the hyperbole that has gripped much about the 20th anniversary. Excellent well done.

However, I feel thoroughly down this morning [:(]
