When in the naval movement phase, I haven't yet figured out how can you see carrier planes on board carriers, so you can be reminded how many and what types are based on board them?

CTRL-left-click on a naval stack in port to bring up a view of all the naval units, which shows what you want and allows you to select from amongst them for ones to move.

Also double clicking on an empty sea dot means each time you hover over naval units anywhere in the game, you'll see the Naval Review form which shows that too. To stop it, you double click on a sea dot again, or double click on an empty land hex which in turn will turn on the Fly-outs for any land units you hover over. The next double click on a hex or sea dot turns Fly-outs off,

Note some of these forms have filtering buttons on them to turn on/off the view of types of ships and whether you see just your own, your allies and/or enemy ones.
